You have to remember where we were when he took over, he had us top 2 form in his first season, but because of the terrible first 10 games or so we of course didnt end up there.  Also played some decent football that wouldnt be out of place in the EPL.

Yes, Mandaric appointing Sousa soon after his fall out with big Nige during the end of his first successful spell here in time for the start of the 2010-11 season was possibly the worst replacement appointment ever - or was certainly up there on a Peter Taylor replacing O'Neill scale! Maybe if it had been Sven appointed after Big Nige right away rather than Sousa we might have been in with a shout of promotion that season and our appalling time of it under Sousa would never have had a say in the overall season but then again I doubt Mandaric would have attracted a big 'name' like Sven here at the time....in the way that the newly appointed Thais soon did!

I'm going back a long way here, but David Pleat had a similar effect in his first 6 months and then similarly failed spectacularly thereafter.

Sven overnight turned us into a free flowing electric team. I think his first game was away at Leeds and we butchered them.alive. I remember a few months later bumming Derby live on TV.

But his summer splurge after those first few months basically disintegrated us.

Utter fraud who fooled so many City fans for a long time.

I recall our transfer spend that season absolutely dwarfed most other clubs in the division. We signed some good players, but Christ, he overspent on some utter garbage.

Sir Nige came in and turned round the complete mess Svennis had made.

Didn’t we basically have a team with no wingers by the time he got the sack

Played 4-1-2-1-2 narrow diamond if I recollect. It showed on the pitch where we literally had no outlets on the flanks.

He genuinely didn’t know what he was doing by that time.

Andy King was absolutely phenomenal under him.

Yes he was.Probably one the hottest talents outside the top flight.Seem to remember a lot of interest in him by the likes of Everton. He was scoring and creating goals for fun.

Then he played for Wales v England in a Euro qualifier, had a shocker and was never quite the same there after.Solid career granted.Just I expected he’d be the main man for someone.

We had Pier Laurrari for a bit who'd been (briefly!) through Bayern but I think he signed pre-Sven, maybe in the first Nige era

With Leicester on Amazon Prime tonight, I just signed in and noticed they have a documentary on Sven.

He comes across as a good bloke, especially when he reflects.

The documentary was amazing, I loved his honesty and down to earth nature. Coincidentally I actually watched it the night before he died which made it very poignant. I really recommend it to anyone.

His England team.

Whilst not the most successful in my lifetime, is always the one that I enjoyed the most.

The performance (5-1) against Germany in 2001 is still amongst my most favourite games of football ever.

The documentary is a brilliant watch.
