I wrote this in October not much has changed since

Dear LCFC board,

I am sorry that it has reached the point where I feel that this email is necessary but as a season ticket holder for the last 18 years I have followed the club through our lowest points but have never felt so little hope for the future of the club.

The results on the pitch have been dire for the last 12 months with the core of a squad that finished 5th twice and 8th last season. In mine and the majority of fans that I have spoken to’s opinion this is down to a couple of different factors. The first is due to the manager constantly talking down the club. This started with small comments such as fans  shouldn’t expect to compete with the “big 6” clubs due to financial constraints, then this moved on to not only the “big 6” but to include other clubs such as wolves, Aston Villa and Newcastle as well and constantly lowering expectations of the fans and not allowing them to be fearless and dream. The tip on the iceberg of this behaviour is when Brendan Rodgers claimed that the club was “just happy to stay in the league” before he turned up when this was blatantly not true as previously we had won the league and got to the quarter final of the champions league.

The second reason is Brendan Rodgers is demotivating the players by constantly talking them down and shifting the blame to fans, the board for not investing in the squad and players for not carrying out his plan properly and refusing to take any responsibility for his tactics or have a plan B for when plan A is not working. This was particularly shown when it took Rodgers 3 months longer than everyone else to even admit that we had a problem with defending set pieces that needed fixing and his refusal to use players that he has signed even when it is clear something needs changing.

The third reason is the baffling substitutions that he makes during games taking players that are playing well off the pitch to bring on players that have made multiple mistakes during the season that have lead to goals. This was particularly shown in the first game of the season where he only used one substitution out of a 5 available and then blamed the collapse in the game on the players being fatigued when he had a possible 4 other subs to use to freshen the team up.

For these above reasons and others I find it baffling that the club is yet to fire Brendan Rodgers and replace him with somebody who can organise a defence and motivate the team.

I have included some links to the fan forum to show how me and a lot of other fans feel about the current situation at the club.

I’m sorry to say that if this situation is not corrected soon the atmosphere around the club and at games will turn completely toxic and ruin the match day experience for fans and families.

Thank you for reading and I look forward to your detailed response

Thank you

I also sent an email and got no response.

I also messaged someone on here because they were trying to organise a protest at the ground/training ground (NOT in the stands on matchday which risks being drowned out by happy clappers).

It never happened. Plenty of people on here annoyed, very few willing to do a simple protest that would actually get some attention.

Great letter but I still think they won’t listen probably won’t even read it, actions speak louder than words I think if Brendan has not been sacked then our next game at home V Chelsea we should leave the seating area empty for the first 20 minutes staying in the concourse making voices heard then when into the stadium just continue the protest against Brendan and the board for not firing him, I know this is probably not worth while because most fans won’t do this but something needs doing to make the Board Listen !

I suggested a Rodgers out chant for 5 minutes before the game then 5 minutes at half time then 5 minutes after the game and got banned for 24 h for the crime of suggesting a protest against Rodgers so I gave up

Given the nature of the emails sent (understandably concerned), does anyone really believe they’ll get a meaningful response?

Its year 2023 where the whole world has tied itself up in litigation.

Hence, effectively responding with a standardised load of bull shit, or not at all.
The only real protests can either be en-masse with banners and loud hailers or non attendance.

I doubt either will happen tbh.

IF we do go down, it’ll be to a whimper of objection and most will then turn and say it was right for the club to get relegated anyway.

Betcha 👍

I think a protest at the training ground would get their attention! It can't get drowned out as you said.

Either that or turning up as the players arrive to the ground with banners.

They may be able to stop you taking signs in but plastering the area outside the ground in them

Everyone can get individual signs in easy enough, I wrapped mine inside my coat.
