Any player not willing to commit with a new contract needs selling. We’ll get £100m easily but shouldn’t need to spent a killing to get promoted again. Need to be smart and hope we can save some money for a hopeful return to the prem.

I think the real problem is going to be getting a capable manager.

It amazes me how many people think it’s going to be a cakewalk to get back - we’re going down with a whimper, club is in a mess behind the scenes. Hardly the stuff for the foundations of a quick bounce back.

I don’t think it’s gonna be a cakewalk. But statistically in more recent years teams do tend to yo-yo. We’re better than any other team to get relegated which isn’t my favourite fact but it’s definitely true

We’d get £70m at least for Maddison and Barnes. We now become fodder for shit teams to pick from, which is good in a way… we they will want some dross.

Fair point. I can't imagine especially mourning any of our vaguely saleable assets. My greatest fear is that we're stuck with too many of them.

I agree but we’re just not an attractive option right now with the doom and gloom.

It's a real conundrum for the club. They are forced really to refinance. No alternative.

We need the parachute on our books for FFP purposes. Plus, by my maths, need to shift 120m in players too. That's just to remain solvent. And having the can of 160m of refinanced parachute debt kicked down the road.

I think from the shattered ruins of what is left, we will also need to renegotiate deals - for example with Vards to reconfigure his 150k a week to, say, 30k a week for the next 5 years. And ask the likes of who we actually can't get rid of ... Albrighton and KDH and Hamza and Ward and Ricardo to either leave with everyone else or restructure their wages too.

I can only pray to god they all have relegation clauses…. Unlikely with Rudkin though.

Bright side many are out of contact in months or a year most.

With Maddison, Castagne, Ricardo, Daka, Iheanacho, Soumare (and a few more) bringing in money, and another 6 leaving on frees, surely that’s a massive wedge saved?

We just need to be smart in loan deals etc from prem clubs, but I have little faith in our board to get it right

That's an optimistic view. Maddison will go for about £30m. If we manage to sell any of the others it will be in the £10-£20m bracket I imagine. I'm hoping the club were smart in putting relegation clauses in contracts but I wouldn't bet on it. You're right that recruitment will be really important but the type of market we'll be looking in is completely different to where we'll have been planning to be looking.

I think I’ve read we are demanding £50mill for Maddison… but we did the same with Tielemans and now we are losing him for free, so you may be right in £30 mill bracket.

We need 3 players from youth team to step up and rely on loan market next season. Going to be interesting to watch, but probably also very painful

People flapping about we are going to go bust need to give their heads a shake.

Yes it will be shit financially. Yes a number of things such as another look at League 1 could be on the cards or at least a stint in the championship. Yes we may get new owners.

But life outside the premier league goes on. Teams get relegated with large wage bills and don’t go bust.

How many high profile clubs apart from Portsmouth and Wimbledon have gone that way? Because it is rare!

Clubs might not be going bust AFC style

but they may as well be.How many gone into administrations have we seen this last twenty years.Dread to think what state most tier 2 clubs books look like.

Teams that yo-yo don’t get a chance to put themselves into financial peril by paying the huge wages needed to maintain mid table security.Teams who tread water for a few years don’t tend to bounce back.

Ok I’m talking proper AFC style when I referred to those two.

Yes I'm aware many have had administration scares. I suppose that is my point, clubs have massive scares but some through….

I'd be very surprised if Barnes stays if we go down. He will have loads of interest given his statistical output at Premier League level.

Tend to agree the midfield will be entirely new, albeit I fully expect KDH to be here, probably as captain.

Actually forgot about him would be decent player in championship.

I see where you’re coming from.Administration is pretty stressful though.

This thread should be renamed the coping thread. We're not Down yet and let's not give up until we are. Ffs. Where is the Leicester spirit. We've gone soft too long in the PL.

Not saying I think we will stay up but let's not chuck in the towel just yet and write it off as a done deal, relegation could cripple this club.

That’s fair. I think the club have shown signs of cutting costs (despite getting so much else wrong). I think as long as that continues we’d be ok. Most players will be gone this summer or next so as long as decisions made from here on are sensible I’m not concerned about the clubs ultimate future, even if on the pitch is grim!

If our players are 'tired' now  how are they going to cope with the physical and relentless nature of weekend/midweek in the Championship.

Bless em'.
