Assuming loose leaf my wife is a big tea drinker and she recommends High Teas London (online).

Her top recommends:

Prince of Wales - afternoon tea.

Yunnan imperial gold tip - breakfast tea. Pricey but the best.

Best decaff - their Earl Grey. Again not cheap but she says the best she's found.

Budget friendly breakfast tea -  Assam honest - 'Not bad but not a patch on the Yunnan but a decent cheaper alternative'.

Mid-range breakfast tea - Manhattan.  Very nice.

Smoke bomb - Russian Caravan.  Not for everyone.

She also likes the Rooibos Earl Grey, bit sweeter than the other Earl Grey.

Not being funny but teabags are basically what the Chinese call tea dust.  Perfectly fine for a builders tea.  But it ain't proper ya know what I mean.

I've never heard of any of the teas you've listed, except Earl Grey,

I think it's widely known that tea bags don't match loose leaf both in variety and taste.

It's just that they're much cheaper and easier to use.

However, as you say, most mainstream teabags are generally acceptable.

Yorkshire above all, for me.

I got my wife a loose leaf tea maker and a few different teas for a birthday or anniversary years ago. She was a committed teabagger until that point.

I dine off it to this day.  Her favourite ever gift from me.  Maybe says I'm terrible at gifts!

She has never gone back to teabags, yeah cost is definitely a factor but not any less convenient imho.

Live and let live, I don't even drink the stuff!

Cos I'd hate this thread to descend into people's favourite teabags and all puns related thereto.

Yorkshire Tea. Nothing special, but nice enough.

Have been to Betty's Tea Rooms in York. Can't remember what their tea is made from or where they source it from but it was honestly the best tea I have ever tasted. Nothing comes close.

Now I hate to be that guy but I booked my wife and her mum into Betty's whilst on holiday.

Excellent tea.  Loose leaf.  They have a selection of teas.

At this point I am a mere conduit for Mrs Bordersfox.

I went on a tour of a tea plantation in Sri Lanka. They grew all the Earl greys and darjeelings etc . I asked him where the tea for tea bags came from and he pointed to the floor.

Green tea every time for me

Have you tried Naela Naela?

Georgian tea, naturally decaffeinated but some really lovely different flavours.

Russian Caravan is exceptional if you like smokey flavours. Absolutely superb stuff.
