Despite the recent successes and fantastic players we've had in the last decade, Izzet is still my all time favourite

I’m with you on that. He was a fantastic player, a real box to box midfielder that was creative and had an eye for goal. £650k wasn’t it? Unbelievable

For me, Muzzy trumps Madders every time. He could do anything Madders could do and still stay standing! Scored some spectacular goals and was an immediate hit with the fans. (Remember the Fezes)? I went on a stadium tour where Walshie and Elliott were the hosts. They were asked who if anyone from their era, would have got in the Premier league winning team, without hesitation, they both said Muzzy. Everyone on the tour agreed. He was a superb footballer and if Glen Hoddle hadn’t have been the England manager, would have been in the England squads. (Hoddle sold him to us)! He was the top scoring midfielder at the time.

Lee Hendrie got a cap in 1998, which was around Muzzy's peak. Jamie Redknapp was getting regular caps. Muzzy was better than both of them imo.

Izzet was a great player for us but he wasn’t better than Redknapp. Never got why so many of our fans were so desperate for him to get a token cap in a friendly

Eh. That’s clearly not true, they had different strengths, but that’s clearly an exaggeration. Izzet couldn’t beat his man nor had the close control, technique or the first touch on the half turn that Maddison had. If you prefer Izzet fine but he couldn’t do anything Maddison can. Maddison is clearly more technically gifted on the ball, you can argued asset is better at the defensive or engine side of the game or whatever but same it he could do anything Maddison could is a daft argument

Izzet was better than Jamie Redknapp but yeah I was never bothered about him not playing for England

Come on now, he was electric worked hard defensively and could do anything any of the midfielders in that squad could do, he stats out performed all of them, despite playing for little old Leicester, players like Rednkapp, Bowyer, Hendrie, Sherwood, Butt we’re getting caps and not dominating games the way Muzzy did.

I agree Maddison has the better close technique and the way he receives the ball on the turn is excellent but Muzzy also drove us forward with his dribbling and off the ball runs, he was a lot more combative and defensively better than Maddison.

both quality midfielders but I would want Muzzy in my team whether it was a game that would either win us the league or keep us up.

I remember saying years ago when watching him that he could play in any top side and slot straight in. I stand by that. Izzet was week in week out unlike Maddison for me.

Always see him around fleckney.

Just takes me back to the MON era as a kid, proper shithouse football but it worked

Izzet was a class above what we had technically and played in a world cup semi final.

Not sure he'd agree after appearing in a World Cup semi.

I've even seen the shirt he swapped with Roberto Carlos at the end of the game.

used to be in what is now Costa Coffee on Queens Road

Love the guy but who was he was he going to replace in the England set-up? Scholes?

scholes wasn't even played correctly. so, why not?

Because Scholes is one of the greatest midfielders to ever play the game and he played in the same position as Muzzy. Let’s get real.
