Dyer was like the anti Ayoze Perez in that he was a technically quite poor player but very effective.

We had the technical ability of others to compensate for that. I still haven't seen as effective a team for the Championship as that one when it got going. Teams couldn't cope with having to put two players on Knockaert or later on Mahrez and then the sheer speed of Dyer causing mayhem. Vardy and Nugent partnership was one of the best ever at that level too. Loved that season.

Okay Paul Gallagher doesn't deserve to be in this list but he doesn't deserve the shit he's getting in this thread. He was a good player for us in the Championship even when the team turned to shite.

He’s not getting shit? What comment about him was unfair?

Any "best of" list of anything – whether footballers, food or brothels – that is based on one person's view is completely pointless. It's pure clickbait and designed to create a negative reaction. Like a mini-version of TalkSport. Purely for eyeballs and angry responses.

"Have you seen who this d**khead has at number x?."

Ok, go on then...you know you want to....top 12 brothels please...😐

That list is laughable. No Johnny morris. No John Farmington and no Jackie Sinclair but Maddison in there as a winger as well as Knockaert and Gallagher what rubbish. Even debatable if barnes should be in top 20 never mind 10

I'm not commenting on the list but scrolling down I've seen Lloyd Dyer's name mentioned 3 times and I couldn't scroll past without saying what an absolute delight it was having that man at our club. One of my favourite ever players regardless of era, club status at the time etc. I absolutely LOVED the bloke and was gutted that he chose the 3 year contract elsewhere rather than a year or two in the Prem with us (Although I understood his reasons). We were incredible that year and Dyer suited that team so well, ahh man I've barely thought about it for years but I'm off to Youtube his greatest hits! :scarf:

EDIT!!! - Oh my feckin' Christ put him on your God forsaken list -

Me too, Watford didn't really suit him and l suspect he rather regretted not staying with the 20-20 of hindsight.

When he left Watford he made the decision to only play for clubs beginning with B, sadly a certain spanish club didn't come knocking, Burton Albion did...😐

Matt Piper was my favourite as a kid, albeit in a short spell. Showed  great promise and potentially a higher ceiling than a few we’ve had over the years.

We got you the first time 🤣🤣

It’s not really though is it? I know recent players don’t have the nostalgia bonus in these debates and some people haven’t got over last season’s relegation yet, but even without that, no one is going to be able to list 20 wingers for us better than Harvey Barnes.

He was very, very average for us. He just scored a couple of long range goals and was good from the spot.

The fact he stood out at all was more a reflection that the team was in considerable transition than any real quality he had.

On the ball, from open play, he wasn't really any better than - say - Ben Marshall who, let's be honest, most people have already almost forgotten player for us.

Charlie Adam. Mel Griffith. Johnie morris Jackie Sinclair. Jack froggart. Hogg stringfellow. Tommy McDonald. Howard Riley Gordon Willis. Glover Farrington Weller Nish (yes he’s has played there) Mahrez. Steve kember. Lynex Guppy. Bobby smith, and Peter Weir. We’re all arguably better than Barnes so yes a list of 20 can be done. And other names not in that list.

Albrighton has to be above Guppy.  Guppy was fantastic for a season.  Albrighton has won the Premier League, FA Cup, Charity Shield and played in several European campaigns for Leicester including scoring in the Champions League.  It's no contest for me.  Technically Riyad was better and had more of an impact in his time here so I can accept him at No1 but Albrighton has got to be right up there.

And agree with the Lloyd Dyer shouts as well.  Cracking player for us.

Looking forward to the thread "Our 12 greatest ever w@nkers (ringed)"

Best not ask me, I'd have Dennis f'kin Wise at 1-12 and 13-15 as a back up.

I mean come on… some of those names played a couple of seasons for us in the second tier and that’s it. Some others are squad players in relegation battling sides and clearly just reaching

Even without some of the older players that were before my time, there’s no credible argument that the likes of Steve Kember, John Farrington, Bobby Smith were genuinely as good as players for us as Harvey Barnes.

I mean Kember was an ok player for a season or so in a bottom half side and Smith was great for us in that season we got promoted but struggled a bit in the top flight, claiming either were as good as Barnes is either reaching or nostalgia baiting to the extreme.
