If ever there was a player that symbolised this club’s decline into turgid mediocrity, it would be  him.

 

A lazy, disinterested waste of space and money who can’t defend, can’t attack and, worst of all, can’t be arsed.

So many on here were hooked back in after a few not-shit performances earlier on in the season.

He will be available for a lowish fee with one year left, was very good in France, was decent for Sevilla and is of a good age still.


Yes he has been awful for us but players can succeed at a new club after a bad time at their previous one and there will be teams in France or Spain who will be keen.

 

Transfer fee won’t be the barrier but as always with us, wages will be. It sums up the state of modern football that that is the case. Players automatically think they are entitled to retain their earnings rather than take a reduction to move, particularly when they clearly want to.

As a PL club, wouldn’t we have had to extend his contract for that to happen.

 

Does anyone know the EFL rules about this?

No. This was misinformation that was put out in the media a few times (of which I referenced on here) but turns out it's just common practice to protect value rather than an obligation.

Seeing this after the Vardy news leaves me fuming. 

 

Two club legends announcing they're going at end of the season within 24 hrs. 

 

I can't take much more. Hopefully news of Ward leaving is fake news!
