I love how you've probably ended up doing something 'wrong' in the eyes of the club by using someone else's season ticket. What a ridiculous, sad situation. I've always found the supporter liaison stuff crap and unsympathetic at this club for years.

The ST would have bought two tickets via the guest sale, not donated his ST to the two people going. You'd think they would do a bit more, doesn't everywhere offer these 'sensory packs' and support now? Why don't LCFC? There's no reason for a VIP seat and pitch level parking, but a pack and a 'thanks for your support!!!' OTT message will surely make his day

Don't do it

Buy him a scarf off a bloke outside and try to let him experience what football used to be about rather than megastores and giving billionaires more money.

Exactly, really bizarre to complain about the club then donate three figures worth to them. Nobody learns that way. There are plenty of places to buy LCFC merch from, there are still 4 days until the match

Not to sound like a dick but why not just get a membership? Assuming you and he will want to go to other games as well throughout the year or coming years?

Not to sound like a dick but have you actually read what he posted?

The OP literally mentions that due to the sensory issues their child has, it could possibly be a situation where the ground is too loud for them. They won't know until they try but if worst comes to worst, a membership isn't a necessary additional cost.

We've got 6/7 home games left so unless you're planning to go to all or most of these I don't think anyone should have to spend £45+ just for the privilege of having a chance to buy tickets for them. Something which they'll also then have to cough up again come the summer for next season.

Disgusting really.

The bottom line is, you’re looking to get 2 tickets to a game that most likely won’t sell out, along with additional support to ensure your grandson gets the most out of the experience.

Shame on the club.

I contacted Anna in the disability department..just to enquire about parking, as I know Albie will be anxious walking a long way from car parking to the ground. All they could offer is a space on the old Filbert street part...£18!!!   But, if we had that 'hard evidence ' of diagnosis it's £10.50!!

Another example of how completely out of touch they are!!

Make up the evidence. Pdf converter and template 'autism certificate' will take you two mins to do. This is a football club not a court of law, they will accept anything. Unfair to attack them on the parking front IMO, I've heard of multiple old and crocked people who cannot walk far that they help with getting to home games.

Not attacking them, just pointing out another example of how they could be a little more helpful that's all.  I'll find another option for parking without their help.  I'm sure they do help others in need with car parking as they should for elderly or disabled supporters.

Hope you get the right outcome for your grandson @weller54. It really is disappointing that the club won't show some kind of willing to at least work with you in this scenario.

Seems like there's ever more hoops to jump through when in reality they could go the extra mile (I actually hate this phrase) and get some good PR out of it. It may even surprise them just how well word of mouth can travel. If you had a positive experience you can then lend that to the next person that wants and actually give some good feedback about the club. But no, they choose to make it difficult.

And I know it's not even about good PR, that should be secondary. What should come first is the fans/customers (!), but to them if they can get people spending more into the club they'll opt for that route as opposed to the empathetic, humane route...

They do offer packs don't they? - Although you'd imagine people already have ear guards etc they can take with them anyway.

Short of giving every autistic kid their own private box I'm not sure what else they can be doing to help with the experience?

If it's about getting a ticket then autism has nothing to do with it. That's the club being absolutely shocking at wanting to attract fans (that aren't willing to pay for a ridiculous membership).

Sorry but thats a daft comment - read the room

Membership was something I was prepared to do for myself and Albie even if it meant just being able to get tickets for this one game!..

However, the points system wouldn't have guaranteed tickets and I also explained that there was a high chance that he wouldn't be able to tolerate sitting through 90 minutes (I'll be surprised if it's 45!)... It's a tricky one and all I was asking the club to do was to help me navigate it.

It shouldn't be that difficult. I hope your Grandson enjoys his first game and day out with Grand Pa.

Clearly a new head of communications or PR at least with Fans is needed. They should be bending over backwards especially for longtime loyal fans.

A genuine True story from a few years ago, My BIL wanted to bring his son to a Liverpool game.  He sent off his Check for the Tickets. Tickets to be collected at the ticket office the day of the game.

When he arrived at the Ticket office before the game they had no Tickets for him and said they never received his Check. They asked him to stand aside while they investigated.

He was getting anxious with the game getting close. 10 mintues before the game A man came over to him and sorry but we haven't been ale to find your payment but come with me.

He walked him into the ground and said sit here you'll be fine Complimnets of the Club. Where was he sitting only in the Directors Box. Now that's how you treat Fans.

But that wasn't the end of the Story. The following Wednesday he received a letter from the Club apologising and explaining that his Check had gotten mislaid in the Ticket Office but had been found.

And yes, They sent his Check back to him with Compliments and hoped he had enjoyed the Match.

Now that's a Club who clearly encourages and respects it's Fans to Follow the Club.

There's no sensory room available and they offer out packs, as far as I can see.

I'm genuinely intrigued what people would suggest the club could be doing better? Apologies if I'm missing a glaring point. It was a flippant comment and apologies if it upset you bud. I can be clumsy with my words :D

I love a pile on the club but I can't really see what they're doing wrong outside of the norm of just being out of touch with their fanbase and humans as whole.

It seems that the complaint is more that the club are shocking when it comes to fans that just fancy going to one off games, which is well established and something that's been discussed a lot.

It will take a bit more than that to upset me lol

The point is the club clearly has no way of dealing with such a simple request, it would be easier for the poster to get a more dignified response booking a lane at Hollywood bowl compared to the way they have dealt with this.

Unless you are mentally disturbed you wouldn't be making up your child had autism (a life long and often profound disability which impacts both the individual and close family members dramatically) and the club are asking for some kind of proof. They really are just pathetic at times.

You really aren't seeing the bigger picture here.

There is so much wrong with the way this has been handled but I accept if you're not personally involved with a young boy or girl who is autistic then you unfortunately won't 'get it '!!

Not sure what the problem is here, the ground is full of people with blue badges, disabilities, etc. It would be lovely to be able to accommodate everyone, but it's simply not possible.

Pretty sure most places ask for proof though, if you book a ticket at a discounted rate for instance, it'll say requires a DLA letter or whatever on arrival to prove it. I think the lack of direction from the club to help out with how to get what he needs is the bigger issue

Not a problem in isolation no...

But when put together with all the other barriers the club have thrown up then it is.

Fully understand that blue badge holders etc get priority.  It wasn't the case that I would be 'stealing' one of their spaces. I could book a space for £18! But they wouldn't recognise Albie's disability to get the 'discounted ' rate of £10.50!

The club are crap at considering how young kids get their first taste/ticket and become supporters. I recall giving feedback as such, and saying how they should have a ‘first game package’ where you can get a ticket, meet Filbert a few other basic ‘welcome to the club’ stuff. They responded by introducing something like this, but stipulated that the child already needed to have a ticket and limited it to only a small number per game - ie limiting it and defying the point of it really.

I can only imagine what it’s like when they're other hurdles that make this more difficult. They are tone deaf and blinkered on things like this.

I suppose currently for STH they can get guest tickets, but still not everyone wanting to introduce a child will be an STH.

If the problem is not enough seats and a demand-side issue, I would like to think the stadium expansion will coincide with taking many of three hurdles away - but I'm not hopeful.
