As a parent of a son with autism and profound learning difficulties I understand where you are coming from - I havent taken him to a game yet, at 5 he simply wouldn't cope with it. Really surprised LCFC haven't got a grip of this - I am finding more and more places are disabled friendly in 2024 and at least offer a financial discount which should be the minimum!

I have a really good monthly newletter I can share if you PM me (or anyone else that's interested) your email, about SEND activities across Leicestershire - it's been helpful to us, I receive it through the school. Best of luck

I agree 5 is too young and with his condition it would be risky,  the last thing you want to do is to make his first experience a bad one because that will probably put him off for life!... this is why I was trying so hard to ensure Albie's first match would be a good experience! That's why the club should be working 'with me ' NOT making it almost impossible for him to go!! (God, just writing that makes me so angry!!)

It took the generosity of a FT season ticket holder to make it happen for him.

Thank you for the offer of sharing your newsletter.

If we ever get the expanded stadium they won't fill it, then they'll be sat round a boardroom scratching their heads wondering where all our fans have gone.

My son is on the spectrum, so I understand your situation and please don’t take this the wrong way. But without evidence anybody can say their child/grandson has a condition to get special treatment and football has a lot of bloody fans. So I kinda get it, and wouldn’t call the club heartless for not being able to do much without diagnosis.

The main problem as I see it is how many years NHS make us wait for diagnosis, and how private organisations capitalise by charging us thousands to do it outside of the NHS. I direct my frustrations here because it’s going to be hard to prove his condition in other situations too, not just going to the football.

He wants to buy a ticket for a football match that isn't sold out not get free private healthcare

KCFC & customers, sitting in a tree…

…and everyone else can FO unless they’re likely to have a fat bank account that needs emptying in the club shop.

The situation doesn’t change while the current lot ruin the club with the sterile stadium and ridiculous ticketing policies.

It doesn’t change while customers still queue up to dump their cash.

Just to balance it out a bit, I worked in a ticket office many years ago and we were endlessly dealing with hard luck stories to get tickets, no doubt many of them were genuine but we had to have a policy of saying no unless there was proof.

Just to balance it out a bit, he's trying to purchase a ticket to a football match, you know, spend money on a product a business sells.

Imagine a world where you might be accused of making up a medical diagnosis in order to purchase a businesses product.

Seriously broken

This is true..my first stop on Saturday with Albie (post Macdonalds) will be the club shop, I'll be lucky to get away with £100 in there no doubt.  After this dreadful experience of dealing with the club that is going to leave a bad taste in my mouth!!

Needing evidence in a world where nhs waitlists for kids autism assessments are five years in length shows how out of touch they are. If a child is distressed by sensory overload but wants to watch the football, the club should be doing everything to accommodate for that.

Absolutely spot on!!!

Don't do it

Buy him a scarf off a bloke outside and try to let him experience what football used to be about rather than megastores and giving billionaires more money.

Disgusting really.

The bottom line is, you’re looking to get 2 tickets to a game that most likely won’t sell out, along with additional support to ensure your grandson gets the most out of the experience.

Shame on the club.

Never forget, unless you are a fan...football is a business

Exactly this.  Money money money. We are cash cows, don't kid yourself we matter. We only matter when we stop coming. And they know that won't happen In large enough numbers for them to change their pricing. New shirt every season, yes fleece them, they will pay it, increase ticket prices, yes they will pay it, membership, yeah do it, they will pay for the privilege of spending with us, 6 quid a pint, 5 quid a pie, yeah rinse them, they are a captive audience.  Yet we still do it, we still pay and I'm as guilty as contributing as anyone else.  The problem is, we can't just find another supplier (of football) as we would with a supplier of say, insurance, or go to a different gig because the one we wanted to go to is too expensive, because we are invested.  I could go to watch the champions league final with the best players in the world and I wouldnt give a toss who won because it matters more to me to see city beat Plymouth/Swansea and the like.  The club know this and take the p*ss.  Not just Leicester......all of them.

I can understand a little when a young child, not yet a complete diagnose has not been completed, though Doctors and NHS organisations can organise a letter, even

 1st level certificates…

For Adults, the NHS provide automatically after requesting through you doctor

disabled passes, for your illness, some that are for life,or over given periods..

In 2ooo when it all started by me,and I was back in UK and needed a forced check-up,I was inundated with information on how to apply for various level disabled certificate from responsible institutes under NHS .

I have Dual nationality…

I had for 10 years previous gave up any last UK abode information.

Though in reality I have been an ex-pat for ca 45 yrs.

I am registered and have my Disabled ( behinderte) certificate in Germany has a German.

But anyone with cancer can apply in UK for 25%-100% disability, even if they can walk..has other quality of life reduncy illnesses…

@weller54 just again..speak again to the club,I am sure there is a disability liason

officer.. There used to be,before my manouverability situation was confirmed.

I had some correspondence from Germany with a club office for disabled fans..

Unfortunately I didn’t keep the contact..Has I mentioned a doctors certificate may suffice…:D

They do offer packs don't they? - Although you'd imagine people already have ear guards etc they can take with them anyway.

Short of giving every autistic kid their own private box I'm not sure what else they can be doing to help with the experience?

If it's about getting a ticket then autism has nothing to do with it. That's the club being absolutely shocking at wanting to attract fans (that aren't willing to pay for a ridiculous membership).

No one is asking for people with autism to get over the top king treatment. Just for the club to show some compassion and heart and use their head to realise an autistic child and his dad may need a bit more guidance and help than a normal match going fan. It's about building a connection with fans which the club seem to have absolutely zero interest in

Sensory rooms are widely provided in other grounds. Worked a bit with Everton and I'm pretty sure they had managed to retrofit a sensory room into Goodison, for example...

Thank you.

We both know there will be hundreds of unsold seats for this game!

They won't be unsold, merely unused.

Disgraceful.  My mum, despite being a fairweather Leicester fan has always wanted to watch them sing 'You'll never walk alone at Anfield' . She's had cancer recently twice and has M.E so I wrote to Liverpool and explained this and within 5 days we had two tickets, one was free for me as she's in a wheelchair. She had no season ticket or membership. She sang with the kop last week at Burnley. They gave us free parking next to the ground and she was treated like a Queen.

Thats a proper football club

What a great thing to do. Treat the fan of another club in that manner, it really is class. Being brought up in the 80s surrounded by plastic Liverpool "fans" really made me dislike the club, but this has changed my opinion.
