Same - too young to see him play but what a cricketer. He could do everything, brilliantly. Those six 6s. Highest differential between his batting stats and his bowling - 23.75. You got three for the price of one bowlers - left arm fast medium, left arm wrist spin and orthodox spin. Probably the most talented cricketer of all time, the guy could do everything.

Really sad, Keegan. Always seemed like a great bloke. Before my time as a player but probably goes down as one of the best ever for our Country.

Oh no.

Remember  when he signed back for Toon as a player and they loved him.

Then went  back as a manager( I'm sure it was one of my first games at Filbo when they beat us and won promotion, there was a pitch invasion?).

We all remember  his " I'd love it " to Fergie.

 

Remember  when he stood outside st.james park talking to the fans, I think it was after he sold Cole?

 

Newcastle  was most peoples 2nd team in that era cos they just played all out attack.

 

 

Always seemed a genuine  proper bloke.

Crazy that they had Andy Cole then Les Ferdinand then Shearer as there main striker back to back in about 3 or 4 of the seasons. 3 of the best English strikers of their era. Just seemed to replace one talisman with another.

This was the first England kit I had a kid with Keegan's number 7 on the back. Probably my first football hero as a youth. RIP legend

 

circa 1982 Kevin Keegan England and Liverpool Hamburg Southampton who won 63 England caps from 19731982

My first game at Filbo was a 2-2 draw with Newcastle in November 1982. Lineker and English for us and Keegan with both of theirs.

 

A bit after his prime but still had it and glad I got to see him play.
