The system is severely flawed and some ST holders are adding to the problem.  I am a member and went to 8 aways last season.  I only bought tickets to 3 of those legitimately.  The rest were bought from season ticket holders.  I accept that sometimes people have last minute change of plans and can't go, so sell their ticket, but undoubtedly lots are buying tickets just for the points then selling them.  Double edged sword as I'm grateful I get to go to some aways as a result of these season ticket holders selling but on the flip side it isn't really fair on members or ST holders on low points who want to go away and can't add to their points total because of this

Ticket ID checks again next season will hinder that.

This is true.  Little hope of me getting away next season legitimately unless we get Newcastle on a Tuesday night in the league cup!

How are they gonna check each ticket???

They won't,  tickets will have to be collected in person close to the away venue an of hour or so before kick off.

That sounds very stupid.  Everyone queing for tickets

I could never work out why I have only 9 home priority points but 554 away. I rarely do away games nowadays but if you get 50 points every year for renewing your season ticket I suppose that explains it. As others have said it's hardly fair on regular away supporters who I presume only get 1 points per away game purchased ? I suppose it's another of those things the club just can't be bothered about as it doesn't affect revenue.

Previously this was for a random 100 or so people per away game. So you order tickets, they don't turn up through the post and you have to collect in person at the ground.

Easiest and most fair thing is to reduce the season ticket renewal points to maybe 10. Then those who regularly go away can catch up and overtake and be rewarded with more points than just a single season ticket. Baffles me why season ticket renewal gets you 50 points when going to every away game in one season gets you nowhere near that total

define 'the most loyal'. I did 42 games last season but only have 7 away points. I was about the only fan left in about 5 rows in L1 last season when we were 3-0 down to Liverpool, with only the old bill next to me to chat to. I've also got no chance of a season ticket

I wish I could have quoted all your posts on one subject…

* I went to 43 games last season

* I was the last one standing in L1 talking to coppers

But then

* I only have 25 points

* I ain’t in the 35 home bracket yet

You’ve kind of just proved my point I was trying to make. If they were to introduce away season tickets then how would they decide who to distribute them to? Loyalty having gone for years through the 80s has to take a bit of priority somehow.. But I’ll say the current point system is awful and unfair..

But it’s great you can go to every away freely on someone’s season ticket. It’s a luxury that most don’t have..

Away season tickets. That’s the answer

They used to do this in effect.  Thats what the away priority scheme is.  Fans would guarantee to buy at least 15 aways every season and were admitted to the scheme.   I think the scheme was capped at 500 STHs.   Although the scheme was stopped to new applicants a while back, a small number who were on the scheme then, and still buy most away games, still get first priority.

Reduce ST to 20 points and have the season ticket points on a 3 or 5 year roll. Still rewards ST holders but gives newer holders a shot whilst prioritising those who go to more away games. Would give members a better chance of catching up.

On another note, more games than you think get to members sale. You’ve just got to be prepared to travel a bit further and to do the unfashionable games. I’m a ST holder but my son is a member and I’ve got him to a fair few legitimately over the last couple of years

Away tickets are almost a closed shop.

Every year I get another 50 points for renewing my ST, and every year the cut-off for buying away tickets goes up by 50 points.  So I'm stuck in the "all STHs" bracket for ever.

I attended via Teams last weeks your 90 minutes discussion on the ticket priority scheme. A few takes from the discussion below

There were 23 foxes fans ejected/arrested at Goodison most of whom were not entitled to purchase a ticket under the current scheme

As a result the club will be re-introducing identity checks at away games possibly before the end of the season

The scheme will likely see big changes next season i.e severe reduction in qualifying period from the current 10 years possibly as low as 2 seasons: no more 50pts for ST holders, replaced with 1pt per match attended: ability for fans to sell ticket back to the club if they are no longer able to attend: changes or abolition of the members ballot.

While the impression given was that the club are well aware that changes need to be made, they only had a very broad outline of what those changes may look like. All attendees  were able to express there view and I think all of us were heartened that at last there appeared to be commitment to make the changes neccesary. Only time will tell though I guess.

I also attended. Was somewhat heartened by the clubs response.  I attended with my 11 yr old son who attends the majority of away games with me and was able to explain the issues we have in getting him tickets.  It seems the club are trying to stop the selling on of tickets, particularly, if like at Everton away as mentioned they end up in the hands of people who are going to cause trouble. Apparently, at Everton, this was the case.

According to Jim though, who, to his credit was very understanding and keen to see changes made, all suggestions need to be put to the board for decisions. This is the bit that worries me if I'm honest.

I didn't hear that bit, but while I agree it's a concern, Jim must have support from the board in carrying out this work So I would be very surprised if some changes arent made for next season.

I was also at the meeting.

No decisions made yet but signs are positive that a change is coming, with the aim of benefiting those who ACTUALLY ATTEND AWAY GAMES :appl:and not those who only buy tickets to keep their priority high and then sell to whoever.

I encourage all who attended the meeting, both in person and online, to email the club with your own thoughts on …

  • The 50 Points per season for having a home ST
  • ID Checks
  • Sanctions against those who abuse / play the system
  • Different levels of away points allocated dependant on several factors; e.g. distance travelled, inconvenient kick-off times (Day and time of the week) and games that could be considered as ‘less attractive’ .
  • A rolling system of allocating away points, (e.g. away games attended over a rolling time period, for example; over 2 years or 3 years or 5 years etc).
  • The Percentage allocated for Members ballot
  • Young supporters who have not been on this planet for long enough to get onto the Away priority points hierarchy
  • The inability to buy a single ticket, that is part of a pair. This is frustrating mainly during the last minute scrambles when our allocation only has a few remaining tickets.

Not everyone. Last time it was around 100 but it should be higher, maybe 200 or 250.

At last weeks meeting, Jim said any future checks would be on a percentage of fan. It was also though suggested that all fans travelling on the clubs transport could have their tickets issued on the coach.
