Forgive me, I am very late to this particular party, and I'm certain there'll be posters who know a lot more about this than me, but I've just spent the last couple of hours tying to educate myself on what the 115 counts actually entail.

Having read some genuinely fascinating articles, the conclusions I've come to, is that the cheating runs far, far deeper than I thought. The other conclusion I've drawn is that I genuinely believe football is ****ed if Man City can't be pinned here. That's not me being dramatic btw, that's a logical conclusion if essentially clubs are now allowed to operate outside of the sports laws with no recourse.

I don't think I'd really grasped how significant this is for English football.

There's too much to even summarise here, but these articles are a good (if frightening read). So many things here defy belief, not least the influence Man City have over CAS - how can that even happen?

Thought I'd post this outside of the Premier League thread as arguably it's a significant topic for the sport as a whole. Apologies if already posted somewhere.

Why? The Premier League’s current financial rules, that are essentially aiming to make it impossible for anyone to compete with Man United and Liverpool and impossible for smaller sides to have any hope of staying in the top flight long term, would be ****ed. Football wouldn’t.

Amazing that they're complaining about impartiality when their CAS ruling, the one that blocked us from two seasons in the Champions League, directly lead to our relegation, destroyed almost a decade's work and cost us half a billion quid in the process, was made by a 3 person panel of which Manchester City were allowed to nominate two.

I honestly don't know how all this gets sorted. Even if they throw the book at Man City surely all clubs like us go after them or the league  too?

It's over 10 years since the first allegation it potentially has a knock off affect of 50 odd clubs... It could literally go on for years and years.

Kind of swinging towards wanting an anything goes mantra with finances. FFP maintains the cartel. The cartel then bend the rules or cheat FFP and get away with it but Everton and Forest get punished.

As bad as those Man City emails about owners providing "fake sponsorship" money are - the sums involved don't actually look any higher than what Man United gets off chump companies for being shit but followed by a zillion glory hunting social media goobers. They are as much of the problem IMO, the amounts they get just for "being Yanited" from the media and companies, despite actually being a big old pile of shit on the pitch for a decade, is obscene. The media are a massive part of the issue for tossing off the big 6 constantly, and commecial multi national companies are the other part of the issue for pumping money in to grab exposure to the audience that the media creates in its big 6 jizzfest. Meanwhile, the other 14 teams are constantly belittled, kept off air, treated as an afterthought and starved of commercial revenue as a result. If the league is to be a level playing field, then the TV time and attention devoted to each team should be equal.

So called clubs are untouchable sadly, money and power will protect them. Seems like the only way English football can be rid of corruption is as sad and angry as it sounds the super league does happen and the six clubs leave. But that's no saying the Super League is the correct answer.

The thing is they want the super league AS WELL AS the prem. They basically don't want to have to work to be in Europe.

Man United have zero form of European competition next season (unless they beat Man City, somehow) and there is a somewhat real possibility that they could be out of Top 4 for a good while. They won't want that. Even the foreign teams won't want that. They don't want to rock up at Villa Park or Selhurst or Brighton. They want the "big boys", even if they lose.

Won’t get punished. Substantial amounts of the evidence is from emails which were sourced illegally by a hacker.

Dates back ten years ago with none of the charges relating to anything past 2014

Suspect they have got all the top lawyers over it finding any loophole they can .

Probably wait till Man City finally get off to flyer in the league and and are 10 points clear in November. Then dock them 8 points and say that’s it we’ve punished them. A bit like Everton and Forest this season. Getting the fines when they are going to make no difference and there’s no dangers of legal proceedings wrangling on for months and causing further issues as to who’s won and who’s relegated etc.
