2-0 Logan Briggs

Our development squad is better than our first team  ,Rvn needs to start looking at bringing some of these players into the 1st team ,and give them a chance  otherwise these young talented footballers will be snapped up by other clubs

Surprised that he wasn’t picked up by Watford, Luton, Stevenage/ MK  academies.  Assume arsenal and spurs passed on him.  The scouting around south Herts is very extensive given the number of pl/chamlionship academies within twenty miles.

Maybe the player chose not to sign for any of those clubs, maybe he choose to remain a free agent as a prospect.

It is rare, but I have seen it happen. Just because a club or many clubs offer a trial, or contract, not every player has to accept it.

Is it a myth that we used to see more players coming into pro football in their late teens/early twenties from non league ?   We know the famous ones but I wonder if the numbers are similar to what they’ve always been or if the academies scouting networks are so well organised nowadays that it’s pretty much impossible for someone to slip through the grass roots net (unless they’ve suffered a chronic injury issue up 15/16 y o which has stunted their development)

If the club/Ruud wanted to get the fan back on side a bit more, some of these lads would be in the match day squads. It doesn't have to be starting, just in and around.

I don't know the answer, I think you would need a huge data pool, which I don't have, also I don't know how you would measure such events.

In my experience, when a player is extremely talented, the parents realise this, when ALL of the clubs are offering training. This leads to, Agents, private elite coaching, many trial offers with academies, that they never not intend to sign at. Essentially using the academy system (and clubs) to train their son for free, its within the rules so there isn't anything to lose unless injury. This is the case as long as the talent remains throughout. The club obviously is hoping to convince the player & parents that they are the right place for their son to play and develop at.

I am not suggesting this is the case in this example, but it has happened in rare cases before.

I'd suggest to you that the football part of football clubs generally are not well organised when compared to modern business standards. Just an opinion. I mean look at the information you already have about football.

2 centre backs being on the bench is obviously more important!

considering RVN was a youth manager in holland etc he doesnt put much faith if any in the youth players

in all honesty they cant do any worse than the players in the first team atm

only positive about all this shit this season is, hopefully next season we'll have a massive clearout and get some youth players in the squad etc

I mean to be fair... Some of them might be studying for their GCSE's!
