Leicester eye £15m deal for Copa America star Ramon Sosa as Steve Cooper looks to secure first transfer

The Foxes are also set to lose a star man

LEICESTER have held talks to sign Paraguayan right winger Ramon Sosa from Argentinian side Talleres.

The Foxes have been chasing the powerful 24-year-old for weeks and met his agents recently to discuss a deal for about £15million.

Sosa has featured off the bench at the Copa America and is being pushed by all parties to move to the Prem.

Talleres have had English top-flight interest and will sell for the right price.

He grabbed an assist during his recent Copa America cameo against Colombia, although his side fell to a 2-1 defeat.

The exciting star then played for 12 minutes as his team lost 4-1 to Brazil.

He has made 21 appearances at club level so far this season.

The highly-rated ace has scored seven goals, also laying on six assists.

Leicester could lose midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall imminently.

The 25-year-old had been set to join Brighton, only for Chelsea to hijack the deal.

Leicester value Dewsbury-Hall at around £35m and are under pressure to sell in order to meet Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) and avoid further breaches.

Dewsbury-Hall had his Brighton medical booked this week - after the Seagulls offered £25m plus Polandinternational Jakub Moder.

Premier League sides deducted points and others at risk

The deal was advanced enough for Moder to head to the Foxes’ Seagrave training ground for his own medical tests.

But Dewsbury-Hall has made a stunning U-turn in his choice to join Brighton in a bid to listen to Chelsea's offer.

Can't think of the last time a player was signed directly from the Mexican league and came into the Premier League, so very hard to say what the quality is like. But got to say, it's a nice highlights reel to watch! (But not listen to!)

He plays in Argentina, not Mexico I think? He looks exciting either way!

This is why I shouldn't post at 1AM!

OK that makes way more sense as it's been clear we have been scouting Argentina and South America for a long time, though haven't seen anything come from it.

This is much better news as quite a few players from that league have come over here and impressed quickly in recent seasons.

Agent Daniel Campos has revealed to Paraguayan radio station ABC Cardinal that he tried to pitch a transfer to Chelsea (or at least BlueCo) for his client, winger Ramón Sosa, but Chelsea essentially told him to go away

At first I was skeptical since it mentioned that he’s a backup for Paraguay but then I remembered that their starting wingers are Enciso and Almiron who are solid PL players.

I like that we’re bringing in competition for Mavididi and can also cover for Fatawu.

Unless he makes a huge impact if he does come to us then they’ll be all over him like a Rash !!😉

Paraguay fans actually seem quite annoyed with how little he has played recently as well

The minutes that Ramón Sosa received during the Copa América 2024 are disrespectful. We wasted the unbeatable moment of one of our best players. How helpless, damn.

Looks like he could rival Mavididi for close control and acceleration. And we do need proper competition for places out on the wings.

When asked why they weren't interested Campos remarked "They said if he's not on Brighton's shopping list, they're not interested."
