Don't care about his assist last week or equalizer against Brighton, he's a terrible signing on a big multi year contract with nil resale value.

They should have made Cooper take his signings with him. He just added to the poor decision making.

We had no money for new first choice wingers. The hope was that Mavididi and Fatawu would step up, and therefore we invested in competent cover players rather than replacements.

But neither adapted well initially, Fatawu got injured, now Mavididi continues to struggle. They've both offered enough at times to suggest that they were adequate cover but neither should ever have been first choice.

I don't think Cooper can be held responsible for the lack of funding for upgrades, and did okay (even though I'd have preferred a couple of up-and-comers) when it came to finding cover players.

We absolutely could have spent money on priority positions rather than pissing money on the likes of Skipp.

BDR has generally looked awful but on a free transfer, there was more logic to bringing him in rather than spending money on Ayew.

He actually started the first two games of the season, so I don't buy into the fact he was signed just for cover. Cooper was bleating on about Premier league experience, after all.  He also eye balled him for this "inverted" winger role. I'm unsure how many games, if any, that both Mavididi and Fatawu played together this season.

So I'll be blaming Copper, recruitment and Rudkin for this one. He's not what we needed. Lack of funds or not.

Well, I can't argue with that! The only thing I'd add is that our dire CM performances all season long - Winks, Soumare both gutless and missing in action more often than not - suggest that we needed a more combative presence in that position. Skipp was just, it seems, a poor choice.

Oh yeah, we needed somebody else (as we did in many positions). I do think that wide players are the easiest to take a gamble on, as the majority are pretty inconsistent anyway so you might just find a Mahrez or even Fatawu (who wasn't massive money really). Even if they're a bit headless, they will general have the capability to change the game if they've got some pace/trickery. Unfortunately we picked 2 that absolutely do not have that!

Either way, he was a free. If you wanted to upgrade on Mavididi, you probably needed to spend. We didn't. The fact that he got in ahead of Mavididi, and still does, is either a poor reflection on our long-term planning when we signed Stephy, which would be a tad harsh, or a damning reflection on our lack of resources to make the squad PL ready.

Whatever, it shows that two managers agree that Mavididi isn't good enough at this level, and our principal alternative was an ageing free transfer when we needed something more promising.

Our approach to signings recently is what we are where we are. We are signing players to fill the squad rather than to challenge. If we need a squad filler, which BDR is, then we utilise youth. They'd surely offer more?

Ref Mavididi - i think he's underperformed. I also think he's another symptom of this poor system. When there's two out and out wide men on the pitch, it stretches the game. Look at last season. If it wasn't him being doubled up on, it was Fatawu.

This signing is why I don’t want us to make anymore signings in this window. I don’t want to hate, with every fibre of my body, another agent led signing that is only here to build their pension retirement pot.

We've got 2 more seasons of him and vestergaard. 1 of those with Ayew aswell. Can't wait.

Don't panic, we'll extend their contracts shortly. I'm sure of it.

Another game today of absolute waste of time..

I know the stat nerds will be all over me as per usual telling me how marvelous he is and how useless Buonnotte and Stephy are.

Can the stat nerds tell me,.first half,

How many touches he had?

How many tackles?

How many duels he won?

How many completed passes?

How many dribbles?

I can tell you. As I watched. But let's hear what 'the stats' say

Can't wait until Reid and Ayew are no longer at our club, that day can't come soon enough.

I can't stand Ayew but, at least he does something. Even those infuriating hold ups before he passes back to the centre half he got it from. Or his appalling boots up the pitch today. But at least, at the very least, he gets involved. And then, almost through law of averages, he does a few good things second half.

Whereas BdcR....just, simply,. nothing. He doesn't do any more than a fit 25 year old from the stands would do. Generally just stands more or less in the right place. But that's it. Total passenger
