Was also getting frustrated with how long we were taking over our own goal kicks when we were losing. No urgency until Mavididi came on.

There was a weird resignation yesterday that we would lose.

No real cheer when their goal was disallowed and an inevitability about their 2nd even though a better team would have comfortably come back into that game.

No, Mavididi runs into Fofana who doesn't make any challenge

Disagree. I think VAR played the clear and obvious rule so if the ref gave the pen VAR would have stood by the refs decision.

Yesterday was standard Cooper, and i get more and more confused by it.  Turn up expecting to be pummeled yet somehow don't, and its somehow only to ridiculous mistakes where we end up conceding.

No plan, no sign of tactics, little energy, and started the game appearing to concede defeat from the start.  Completely outclassed by Chelsea, especially in the first 20 mins.

However, at about 30 mins in Chelsea mimicked Leicesters Maresca and stopped believing they should bother going for a 2nd goal to focus on some lovely backline passing, and we somehow were always in the game. Ndidi should have at least hit the target for a golden chance, and Kasey had a brilliant chance to level. I just simply don't understand how this dross stays in games. Really makes me feel that a manager with a strong direction could actually get something decent out of our squad. Feels like a wasted opportunity.

Last season, championship dross showed how to sh1t house Maresca-ball. Go man to man, double up on the wingers and flood the midfied. Couldn't tell you what our tactics were at all yesterday. Not a clue, but its clear Cooper hadn't watched much of us play last season.

Special mention for the outrageous move that led to Chelsea's first goal. We had about 4/5 players hugging the center circle for Mads to kick long. He kicked it central whilst our players did a strange pre planned movement of leaving the center circle. Ball goes straight to Chelsea players who kept the ball central, Wout tries keepy uppy to keep the ball under control and is completely outclassed for the goal. It's like it was the first time they had ever played together.

On the plus side i thought Bilal is starting to come good and it was Soumares best game for us. Even saw him run the length of the pitch at the end of the 1st half. That's about it though.

Just rewatching the penalty….. what the **** is Sanchez doing?

Stayed down the middle, nearly worked to be fair. Ayew's pen was awful, although not as bad as his reaction to scoring. You'd have thought he'd just made it 4-0 how chill he was.

Stayed down the middle, but seemed to get a hand to it, yet he seemed to pull his hand away too. Horrific goalkeeping.

I'd watch it again, he doesn't pull his hand away at all lol

It just had enough power and distance from the centre to beat him.

There's really no real difference between staying down the middle or guessing at diving either way, if the player kicks the ball at you then you save it, if they don't then it goes in. I don't get why players make out like there's an art to it, it's really just a game of luck weighted in favour of attackers.

Staying down the middle was always my preference for pressure penalties as players tend to over think and just want to hit the target. If it's weak enough you still have time to react.

I couldn't believe what I was watching. It was like they'd spent time midweek working on a set piece move without any thought to what the opponents would do. The fiasco culminated in Faes doing anything but try to clear the ball.

Post match analysis here. Maresca used Cooper's own system against him and made him look stupid!

I’ll tell you what id like an analysis on. How you can stick 11 players behind the ball in an ultra defensive damage limitations set up and then have the opposition centre mids pick up the ball in our half multiple times. Turn, have a cup of tea and then have acres of space to run into ?

Extended highlights have the whole move in its entire majesty - https://youtu.be/RydpLeE80Uo?t=258

Was 4 players - but have no idea what they were trying to do, but you are right that no thought went into what might happen if the opposition just pass it back through the middle.

Annoys the **** out of me when they use the line "If he gives it then it doesn't get over turned". It's just got to the point where they are more bothered about looking after their mate reffing. It's quicker this season but it's not any better. Just quicker at being SHIT

Our best player, but faded into the second half, and then was subbed

Why was it so painfully obvious that we had done all we were going to in the game in that last 10 minutes of first half? I just knew we'd come out that way in second half and do nothing until they scored a 2nd.

2nd goal of theirs azrguably was he went down on the halfway line feigning injury, they carried on and from the right side we conceded again because he was way out of position.  Frankly our whole defence is abysmal FAES is a liability Christiansen and Justin regularly pulled out of position.  Watch Justin all the time he aimlessly wanders into the centre of the pitch leaving their winger or advanced full back in acres of space.

That sounds like tactics at fault. I think what happened in that moment is pretty common, some you win some you don't. The rest of the team have plenty of time to react, if I remember he's lost possession quite close to the opposition penalty area, not the middle of the park or our own penalty area.

What I do agree with is it's the whole defensive setup that's not good enough, at this level.  We seem to have a choice of keep it tight but make individual errors and concede, or have a go and leave to much space and concede.

And now we are struggling for goals too.  It really isn't good at the moment. It's either the team just isn't good enough, or coopers tactics.

Too many of our players are not prem standard, McAteer is never gonna be, Faes a constant liability, Ndidi now a toothless tiger, Justin, Okoli and El Khannous out of their depth. Frankly our only quality player (apart from the goat who is ignored by the other fools) is Hermanson!

They even made Soumare look average, some feat that.

Replacing Cooper is totally pointless when there is nothing approaching quality to select from, but then there is absolutely no prospect of him going except in the minds of a few.

Sad what the useless idiots in charge have done to our club.

Well this aged well.. 🤣🤣
