Foxes96 Posted 29 November 2024 Posted 29 November 2024 Hamza to reprise his role inverting from RB? 1

Clever Fox Posted 29 November 2024 Posted 29 November 2024 The players have a lot to play for tomorrow. The cloud of Cooper is gone from them and they have a real chance to express themselves and impress Ruud. It's not going to be easy but any result from tomorrow will be a big bonus. 2

Think we’ll still be exposed down the right hand side without Fatawu. So might need a more defensively minded winger with Buonanotte playing inside. Hermansen Faes - Vestergaard - Kristiansen Hamza - Skipp McAteer - Buonanotte - Soumaré - Mavididi Vardy

Hermansen Faes - Vestergaard - Kristiansen Hamza - Skipp McAteer - Buonanotte - Soumaré - Mavididi Vardy Yes, We should have sold Hamza in the Summer and brought in fresh talent. He's definitely not a long term solution. I would'nt be surprised to see Coady come into the team alongside Vesty for their experience. And even Ricardo in the midfield role behind Facundo on the right and providing Cover if needed as well as providing some attack threat. Edited 29 November 2024 by Clever Fox typo

baldeagle Posted 29 November 2024 Posted 29 November 2024 If Hamza is our saviour then we’re in even bigger trouble . 3 1
FosseSpark Posted 29 November 2024 Posted 29 November 2024 Hermansen Justin Okoli Vestegaard Kristansen Ndidi Skipp Bouna ElKhannous Mavididi Vardy Faes should be nowhere near it. He has bungled for about 5 or 6 goals this year, in a way that pundits are now laughing at, and needs his barnet sorted. 3
jammie82uk Posted 29 November 2024 Posted 29 November 2024 So the gameplan is to score more then the opponent, why have we never thought of doing that before 🙄 2

A few messages back and forth to check he’s okay. Never nice when three good people lose their jobs. Then the focus was on the game.” This week? “It’s been a whirlwind. Your focus shifts quickly and coming up with gameplans for a tough game. The players have been professional and that’s all we can ask in this situation.” When did you find out you were taking charge? “We’ve known for a few days. Midweek. We’ve worked on that proviso since Tuesday.” Anything you can say on Van Nistelrooy? “Nothing. I was hoping you might be able to shed some light on it! We’re just focusing on the game.” Copenhagen party? “The lads had a couple of days and it’s their decision what they do with their time off. The club dealt with the issue quickly and we’ve moved on.” Injuries? “Harry’s the only one. He’s recovering well. Tomorrow will be too early but hopefully he’ll join the group again soon.” Brentford? “They’ve got a really good home record this year. It’s a really good environment for a Premier League game. We’ve prepared well and we hope we can show that.” What does a new manager need to bring? “I think in these situations, it’s about stability. Everybody wants certainty. As soon as a decision is made, everybody can get behind that person and move forward.” Message from chairman? “It’s just been to give a positive account of ourselves and the football club. It’s part and parcel of the industry. We just have to make sure the players are in the best position possible and give a performance that the fans would expect.” Strengths? “I’m a coach and my strengths lie on the grass, developing players and helping them improve. We’ll soon see if one of my strengths is taking the team!” Conceding goals? “Conceding goals in the Premier League is a given. It’s going to happen. There’s only the Man United game we didn’t score in. There’s give and take. We want to be conceding fewer and scoring more and hopefully that starts tomorrow.” Can this group of players stay up? “Absolutely. I see them work every day. They’re good footballers. Yes, at times you need a little bit of luck. From what I see in terms of endeavour, it’s there.” How to approach this weekend's game? “We take a bit of everything. I think there were good elements in how Steve was getting the team to play. But there are areas to improve.” Atmosphere at training? “Training has been good as any week since I’ve been at the football club.” Funny how he refers to the Copenhagen party as the club having dealt with the issue, you wouldn't think there's largely anything negative about it. Other than that, strange game this, kind of as if everyone is going there to accept that what will be will be before the new guard arrives. Edited 29 November 2024 by LcFc_Smiv

Gamble92 Posted 29 November 2024 Posted 29 November 2024 Don't really like Dawson's comments about only Man United being a game we haven't scored in so that side of our game is fine. Anyone who's watched us knows that it isn't fine. This idea that all we need to do is sure up the defence and we will be fine is a bit of a myth. We have relied on individual bits of class but it was painfully obvious that wasn't going to happen every week with this team. Especially not against better opposition. The whole tactical set up needs a huge change. Ruuuuuuuud 2

I have a funny feeling Soumare will feature heavily in RVN's plans, he fits the Sangare role that he had at PSV of being a defensive minded midfielder who can also be quite comfortable on the ball. If all players were fit, I'd guess Ricardo would be at RB inverting to CM, Winks will very much suit RVN and would replace Ndidi, and El Khannouss may be dropped, Buonanotte taking his spot and Fatawu stepping in to right wing. I won't be surprised at all if the Soumare call is wrong and Ndidi returns to his old CDM role, the attacking experiment worked fine in the Championship, but going forward Ndidi has been caught out too often this season. Good idea to expose the right side even more. Seriously doubt RVN would invert Justin. He's more likely to be the one tucking in in a back 3

funkyrobot Posted 29 November 2024 Posted 29 November 2024 (edited) Hamza to invert or play as a conventional fullback such is the lack of confidence of Justin. Edited 29 November 2024 by funkyrobot

He was pointing out that all teams concede goals, and illustrated that by pointing out that we've scored in all our games bar one. In fact, he explicitly said that we need to get better at scoring goals: "We want to be conceding fewer and scoring more and hopefully that starts tomorrow.”

Yep, that's the team for me - as long as someone is covering for JJ or he's instructed to stay in the back line.
