Biggest issue is our midfield gets too easily bypassed and so there is constant pressure on our defence, which is too static and slow.

Ideally you would look to bring in a new RB, LB, CB and a DCM in January but do we have the funds to do that - probably not.

Slept on it.

Not feeling as sour today. Elements of the performance were alright, especially against the inevitable winners of this years premier league.

On terms of selection I can get why he played Ayew, but other than the odd goal he’s offered nothing. He doesn’t press and he doesn’t offer much in the position he plays from a defensive aspect either… so he gets us the goal, but then doesn’t do anything else…. Ruud seems to want to play with this inverted winger, but Justin is desperate and it just isn’t working….. and if you’re playing an inverted winger would BDR potentially be a better option? But then again surely Buonanotte could play that role too? I just find that whole situation puzzling……

Anyway, recapping on last night after being hopelessly deflated, there probably was a glimpse of hope, we play with that kind of organisation V wolves we probably win the game and that’s the worst bit about that game……

There’s plenty more twists and turns to go, and we just need to get a string of results together. I think we’re on the same amount of points as Forest were at this stage last season, so despite the hopeless feeling, all is not lost. A couple of good signings in January and we could be okay.

Is there a worse centre forward in the league than daka ?

Not even a top-half Championship player. How he still gets in the team is a mystery. I´d rather have Ayew up front. Despite the criticism that Ayew gets on this web site, I think he is not too bad. Yes he is slow but he´s scored a few goals and can hold the ball up.

It's questionable isn't it.

He shouldn´t be in the team, but I don´t blame him. He wasn´t good enough when he arrived and hasn´t improved one jot since, which doesn´t say much for the recruitment and coaching at the club.

Lol - did you see Édouard play? Like him or loath him, Patson does have a good goal in him, and a clanger. Your comment about Ayew made me laugh though. Most dont want him on the pitch but it sounds you would like 2 Ayews out there!

Yesterday was the fourtieth anniversary of me and my mates first trip to Anfield. Lunchtime kick off, early start from home. Car broke down on the M6, arrived half an hour after kick off. We were leading but the away end was locked so we had to stand at the back of the cop.
Andrews played a blinder in the second half and we held on to win. Had to keep our gobs shut until well clear of Anfield, happy days.

We are tragic to watch full stop. But we’ve been tragic to watch at Liverpool even when we won the league.

It’s all the other shite turned out this season where the problem lies

Anfield always used to be a good ground for us till Klopp turned up. Even in the 80s and under MON.

He was, and the disgrace that was his recruitment is why we look this much of a mess.

Did he recruit? Nobody has yet answered this question because the truth is no one on here knows. Also, who decent was coming here anyway with the financial shit show?

You seriously gonna claim that the likes of Skipp and BDCR weren't his signings? And lets be clear, our DoF is incompetent and doesn't enforce a strategy and recruit players/coaches to fit. The signings under Enzo were clearly for Enzos system, with the exception of BEK I don't think we'd have made any of these signings under him if he had stayed. Rodgers and Congerton were given basically free reign to sign who they liked. It is basic pattern recognition to see that Cooper was given recruitment input and wasted 30m on Skipp, BDcR and Ayew because "muh premier league experience".

This mess is bigger than just one manager. Only Hermansen has improved the team over the last two seasons. Even Enzo spent £8m on Coady ffs.

Ahh yes before the current modern PL bubble.

To a degree but even in the 80s Liverpool won most of their home games, but would often slip up to Leicester.

Even when we came up under Pearson and were bottom we drew there when Rodgers was still in charge. Forest won there this season but it's not a ground we've got anything from since Klopp took charge, even when we won the league and they were struggling.

I can’t remember another team putting so many crosses into the box. Pep would be appalled

Was just reading about this. Read a good match report which said that Liverpool were slightly tactically tricked in the first half. We allowed them room which made do more crosses than other time this season. First aide to concede more space and try to avoid the basketball they profit it in

Let's be honest: Liverpool didn't play their best game yesterday, yet we still lost handily. Fourteen corners to one...

I'm hoping the purse strings will be loosened next month; the current selection is largely just not up to the tasks at hand.

I would also find a.competent DoF as soon as possible.

Fatawu, Winks, even Mavididi to some extent (he blows hot and cold and is currently out of form, but was on fire back in September). the mess is bigger than one manager I'll agree, it's the lack of a recruitment strategy for coaches as well as players (Enzo to Cooper is like going to the cinema, finding out the showing of wicked is cancelled so going to see Nosferatu), but Cooper's recruitment was players pretty much uniformly not good at one particular thing and barely PL starting quality

Bilal and Ayew were the only starting players last night who were signed in the Cooper period. And they were far away from being our worst players.
