I'm hoping in not being revisionist but that team seemed to have a lot more resolve about them? Don't think anyone predicted the Great Escape but perhaps there was more belief?

There's more to the issues on the pitch this season than there were back then. The whole club seems in a rot now beyond on-field problems. Which gives me no faith at all that we'll come out of it barring relegation.

Couldn't feel any less like it. I could see Ipswich pulling similar off though. They've got that same camaraderie about them.

There is absolutely nothing about us that feels positive. That wasn't the case last time.

I dunno in that season I remember being just as disillusioned and pi$$ed off with the players and manager when things were bleak

Not a chance.

We didn't lose a single game by more than two that season and everyone could see the fight the players had. We were honking some weeks, granted, but there were games in which we were desperately unfortunate.

What got us out of it was characters. King, Cambiasso, Vardy, Schmeichel and Nugent. Where are those big personalities in our squad now?

I do think some of the history on it has been rewritten a bit and that we weren't good every week as is often suggested, but we were better than this. They won 7 of their last 9 games. I'd be amazed if we won 7 times all season.

I know we are all feeling the doom and gloom at the minute but if we can just add a couple of players and get things right I still believe we have a chance. It's in our hands (we have Everton, Ipswich, Wolves) still to play and need to get behind the lads.....

and Saints at home! I know they're gone but another 3 points guaranteed

I just don't see it. Everton aren't going down with Moyes, they will start to pick up more points. Wolves as well, I'd say are more likely to pick up more points than us. We can't defend and we've stopped scoring and the players are mentally weak with no leaders in the squad, so add that all up and it equals relegation. Even with 2 or 3 new signings, the rot is set so deep in this squad, it's almost impossible to get out of. During the great escape, there was always a positivity that we could turn things around as performances were good and we just lacked luck, the vast majority of our performances this season have been hideous. We also had real leaders like Cambiasso, Huth and Morgan, we don't have any leaders in this current squad. I really wanted to be positive and after beating QPR and the PSR announcement I felt confident again and was really looking forward to the Palace game and now that game has completely finished me to the point where I don't even want to watch anymore games this season as we are a complete shambles. Hate to say that as I love my club but right now, this isn't my club and it won't be until the board are removed.

If I remember rightly the one signing (Huth) in January was what made all the difference. Before then we didn't look secure defensively at all. I feel we need a Huth type signing in this window...... Lindelof maybe??

We were terrible some weeks. Absolutely played off the park at Southampton, going 13 games without winning, insipid home defeats to Stoke and West Brom, another six game losing streak over Christmas etc. But we never felt miles off. There were always little glimmers of diamonds even in big piles of shit. Now there's just shit.

I wouldn't say that I was certain about it, but I remember saying to a family member with 10 games to go, that we could definitely stay up.

That team was exactly that; a team. Had been together a few years and experienced the heartbreak of the playoff game and channelled it into something positive. The ones that have faced adversity here, have never been able to deal with that (Vardy aside). Not to mention that the 14/15 team generally played very well and were in such a false position, hence the hope I had that we could turn it around. We are where we are because we deserve to be.

Apart from the place in the table, the situation is entirely different.

I spent all of that season frustrated we weren't picking up points and the press were up Burnley's backsides, even though we were clearly much better than them and not getting the rub of the green. I won't say I expected what happened in the last few games, but I wasn't shocked either.

The current lot are miles off it. Absolutely no chance.

Vichai>Top

That entire backline> The current one

Prime Vardy> 38 year old Vardy

The list could go on

The defence in 2014/15 before Huth stepped in was equally as crap as this season

We actually had a good squad though and a manager who had been with us for some time with proper coaches and backroom team all aligned, this is completely different.

We need a miracle

It felt like the mistakes we were making in 2014 could be put down to naivety or inexperience whereas now I think most mistakes are down to incompetence or a lack of effort.

There's nothing about the current squad. There is no way they could pull off any sort of escape let alone one like in 2014.

A good squad??? You sure about that? We had Matthew Upson, Konchesky, Dean Hammond, Bakayogo, Ben Hamer, Gary Taylor-fletcher...Ritchie De Laet...we did not have a good squad

Won't be two worse teams than us.

Everton can defend, even if they don't score many. I fully expect us to lose 1-0 there and be as usual unlucky or give them a goal from a mistake.

Wolves can score, and Ipswich do have that team spirit and collectiveness about them.

I genuinely can't see us winning any time soon let alone keeping a clean sheet. We still have Ipswich and Soton at home but I don't expect any points from them at all with how we're playing. We are not good enough to pick up 20+ points in the remaining games

To be fair we were absolutely awful at times from September - January. Couldn't defend or score, like now. Improved after that but still took time to start picking up points. Without Huth we would've gone down.

But yes, most of the components were there for the great escape, we just needed to find that missing piece of the jigsaw and stumble on a winning formula. That's not the case now. We are several pieces short.

What a run that was though. Maybe my favourite period supporting Leicester, even more so than winning the league. What a time to be alive.

I'd take them all over the current crop.

Koncheskey over Kristensen

De Laet over Justin

Upson over Faes or Vesterguard

Dean hammond over Winks
