I don't see any problem with RVN coming out and saying when he signed he was told he would have money, unfortunately that doesn't seem the case and he feels he was lied too.

 

Nothing Top, Rudkin or Whelan can do about that. Yes, it would cause tensions but I'm guessing those tensions are already there in some form.

It seems to be one of those manager etiquette things like not singling out players for criticism, or speaking in a weird present tense when referring to the past …. You don’t say you were promised X until you leave. I dunno, I’m clutching at straws that something will happen to trigger a change!!

Again it comes back to the total lack of standards. The owner doesn’t notice or doesn’t care the senior directors and managers can’t or won’t do their jobs properly.

So we have a chronic issue with overpaying and handing out overly generous contracts, we have genuinely top class training facilities, and by all accounts treat our players like kings. Yet apparently there was money to spend in January but we can't convince anybody to join us?

The one thing conceivably putting players off is the FFP/PSR cloud. You’d just hold out for a better offer in the summer.

 

Of course those issues are entirely of our own making.

There are so many examples of clear, evidenced lies that are told to prop up whatever element of control the club wants.

The statement after relegation was probably untrue too. I doubt he got any abuse directed at him because nobody can access him.

The 3 teams that came up last season will get relegated. The gap between Premier and Championship is massive. If you don't get your recruitment right you are in big trouble. Bought a load of duff players who are just not upto it - Skipp, Reid, Okoli, Ayew, Eduoard. These are all Premier league rejects from other teams. Why waste more money on late panick buys. It's not going to happen. Re group in the Championship and get rid of the likes of Faes who doesn't give a toss and go again in the Championship next season.

Don’t get me wrong, none of them were what we needed. Ayew and Reid have contributed a few moments but recruitment should have been better.

 

Skipp though has shown to be very good at Championship level and I think Okoli would be if he stayed. Obviously doesn’t excuse why we brought them in at this level.

 

My main concern is mentality and professionalism. Oh and the wages we are paying them.
