Get rid of every failure in the squad

start again

young hungry manager who gets told from the off there is no money and to build again

even at that we might be on for a double relegation that's how badly we have fallen

Care to explain how you do that when they are on big contracts that they won't get elsewhere

This team is comfortably top 10 in the championship but that says more about the gulf in class between the leagues.

Best case scenario is we have a few years mediocrity in that league, rebuild and refinance.

You really think that is best case?

This team won The Championship last yer with more than 100 points.  We have only lost KDH from that team.  Yes, recruitment has been an abomination in which we managed to spend £70m without strengthening the team, BEK aside, but we will still be favourites to go up next year and have players breaking through like Nelson and Alves and possibly Evans.

Contracts will have relegation clauses which will lower wages.

Erm you may want to check the final league table there!

If we get rid of a few of the higher earners, put faith in youngsters and importantly, have a competent manager who is aligned with doing this, we might be alright.

It’s also the lazy culture that needs weeding out but that comes from our lazy, spoiled man child of an owner who doesn’t know what hard work is.

Oops.  I could have sworn we got 101 points.  I stand corrected.  97.

That'll teach me to post without checking my facts.

I think that Enzo probably deserved most of the credit for this. Without a manager like him we won't be anywhere near this.

Will need a few in, and hopefully a few more leave as well, but even with a transfer ban have a decent side for that level.

                        Stolarczyk

Coulibaly - Nelson - Vestergaard - Justin

                      Skipp - Winks

Fatawu  -  El Khannous  -  Mavididi

                             Daka

Young / Souttar / Thomas / Hamza / Braybrooke / BDCR / McAteer / Alves / Evans

edit to say: Would almost rather not bounce straight back and build the team around some of our young players, so when we are promoted again we make a better fist of staying up.

We need a massive clear out. I don't want to see Faes, vestergaard, Justin, soumare, thomas, coady, winks, skipp ,ayew, Reid or daka anywhere near this side. If we can't get shot of them leave them in the jacuzzi all week up at the spa.

A bunch of miserable, spinless willy pullers.

Literally write the whole lot off. Wouldn't play Ayew or BDCR ever again for example

I realise that your point wasn’t specifically about the point total but more what the squad could do so apologies for being pedantic! But yeah, I think they should have got over 100 points, it was a poor second half of the season all things considered.

The idea of watching Winks, Skipp, Faes, Vestergaard, Daka etc in the championship genuinely makes me feel so empty.

It will never happen I understand but I’d love it if we completely start again and gut the squad and utilise the academy plus some fresh faces.

I realise I’m living in fantasy land if I think that’s going to happen but would be nice

We need to drop the style we play currently, though it may get us back up the sub standard players can’t play that way in this league. I’ve seen Orient, Plymouth, and even Tamworth put up a better fight against prem teams. Brentford reminded me of our O’Neill era, three big lumps at the back saying come on  cross it and we’ll eat it up. Aggression and fight .

Obviously this is all guess work & opinions. But has anyone got any idea of how many points we're likely to have deducted ? Is there a limit that the EFL can impose ?

Wouldn’t worry about Faes, he’ll be captain of Barca by then…

Empty is a good word to describe how I feel about the current team too (Vardy aside).

I think as long as we see a couple of local lads in the side it will go a long way in terms of bringing the fans back on board.

The problem isn't getting back up.  The problem is you need to be so much better to survive.  We need to sign more Mads, Fatawus, Bilals and steer the fxxk clear of the Reids, Ayews and Skipps.  A team full of those latter 3 can probably still go back up, but it can't stay up

Spot on, it's easy with the budget we will have to pull together a squad that can get promoted.

I look at the likes of Sheff United as where we will likely end up, yes they should get promoted, but for what? It's not a forward thinking team, philosophy, programme. They are essentially going up to get battered and do it again.

Seriously though, next season for me will not be about an immediate return. If anything, coming straight up just meant the clear-out which Enzo started was incomplete, and we're still stuck with journeymen and charlatans. Including some that we've mindlessly decided to add under Cooper.

I want to see the spine of this squad completely refreshed and a focus on youth, preferably with academy players like Alves, Nelson, and (if they're ready) Monga and Evans playing prominent roles. I hope that, as a fanbase, we would accept that a young squad may need time to learn and gel.

I still think it was a really stupid decision to let Cannon go - regardless of whether he's not 'Prem Quality' he scores goals in the second tier and is proving a good foil for Brereton-Diaz at Sheff Utd. We are potentially going to go into next year with Daka as our first choice striker, supported by a youth player and nobody else. That will be our Achilles Heel - a lack of goals from our strikers and an over reliance on them from other parts of the pitch.

Much is said of the need for a leader. We have none right now. I'd hope that one of Nelson or Souttar would be able to grow into such a role, assuming the latter would be willing to stay after being cast out in favour of wastemen like Faes.

One thing's for sure - if the playing squad doesn't change dramatically, we're in for a world of pain next season, because if this lot can't motivate themselves to fight for Premier League status they sure as hell aren't going to suddenly find the graft needed to storm the second tier.

Yes but like we seen last season no other club will want them even on reduced  salaries

Well yes, other clubs might not want them because they are hopeless, that's a different point, you originally said that they couldn't be shifted because of big contracts that they won't get elsewhere.

New arrivals aside, they have literally already done that.

Between 10th to 15th, championship will likely be harder next year with potentially birmingham and wrexham coming up who will no doubt be busy in the transfer window once promoted.

Unfortunately if we don’t stop the rot, I don’t think this stops in the championship 🥺

Sunderland were in a similar situation a few seasons ago...

Nope.

Maresca is gone, Mads will be sold, Ndidi sold, Vardy 2 years older, Faes sold(although that will strengthen us)

Fatawu likely won't be what he was.

I'm of the opinion we are better off not going straight back up as we clearly aren't prepared for the step up in quality as proved by the players and boardroom dumb****ery displayed this season.
