I did actually ask about Cannon, and was told that he was really ****ing lazy, often late, and spent training ambling around putting little to no effort.

Sounds like 80% of our current squad

I don't think many people were keen to have him back because they thought that highly of him, I think it was more just desperation to try someone/something new in pure hope something clicked.

He offers less than than current Vardy, Daka or even Edouard. There's wanting something new and then there's pissing your pants every time Daka started over him last season despite Cannon not showing enough to warrant starting. (not directed at you personally, just the general reaction every time Daka started last year)

Correct. But glad we stuck with Vardy. Although some now put him down as shit after all he's done.

What's with this weird victim complex around Vardy recently? And why can't people separate what somebody has done from what they are doing currently.

Not seen a single person properly giving Vardy pelters because his legacy is secured and he's untouchable in that regard. But equally, his recent performances have been so poor and our goal scoring record has been abysmal as team, and he's a big part of that. Of course he's going to struggle to have any success in this team but got to say that the West Ham game was the first time I've seen a genuine lack of effort from him. He creates an awful lot of problems because he's not trying to spin in behind but he also does next to no pressing now, spending his time pointing at other people.

He won't be the reason we're relegated but he is absolutely part of the problem. Ignoring that is just silly.

He's getting pelters on the Sheffield Utd forum - it looks like they're turning on him already!

To think we got £10m for him!

A bit like the players who got pelters on here and then actually did well when given a chance?

Nacho? Booed on and cheered off in 2020, got us to the cup final almost single handed in 2021

Vestergaard from crap to player of the season to crap again.

There's countless more examples over the years but it says where we are as a fanbase that we're excited a young player we sold that's doing badly is worthy of a thread on its own.

Easy solution.

Just bench him for 3 games. After that he will be perceived solution to all their problems.

How is that working out for Édouard?

Whether he improves his form or not, it was a good sale for us at the time for the money we received. Far too many toys were thrown out the pram on here when we sold him.

Whether the fans liked him or not, he wasn’t going to make the first team. I’m sad to hear he was late and wasn’t committed in training. Not our player anymore, so good luck to him.

Why did we even sign him in the first place? It seemed really strange and out of the blue, and he barely played. A waste of money and everyone’s time.

Daka was expected to leave (nearly joined Bournemouth on deadline day) and initially well out of favour with Enzo

Vardy was 36/37

Iheanacho would’ve been gone in January for AFCON

It did make sense to sign a young striker like him

The quotes at the time were that he was for the future, that obviously didn’t work out and I don’t think any managers talked about him as being one for the future in press conferences after he signed.

p.s. just came across this today, Cannon inn!

It’s clear he was ****ing rubbish, none of Enzo, Cooper or Ruud even looked at him.

The mystery is why we signed him. They spent the pre-season of 2023 trying to get rid of Daka and then signed Cannon even though he was going to be out injured for 3 months. Once he was fit and had played several games, they preferred Daka for the rest of the season. Who decided to sign him?

He always looked miserable last season whereas Daka, for all his shortcomings, at least looked happy when they won, even if he hadn´t played.

We were selling Daka to Bournemouth, Ihenacho was going to Afcon so we were in danger of having only Vardy in the busy Christmas/New Year period. So in that context, buying a proven Championship scorer did make sense.

But the Bournemouth transfer fell through (funny that) because they wouldn’t match his salary (how on earth is a transfer strategy based around a move where pay hasn’t been agreed?) and when Enzo preferred Daka to Cannon, the full incompetence of our director of football was exposed (again).

That said Daka also went to Afcon…so the situation was much the same except we had one more striker than we were ever going to use, outside of Afcon.

Spoke to a Stoke ST at weekend. He was amazed at the price we got and said he was pretty rubbish. An immobile forward

We don’t create chances, end of.
