Why hasn't anyone spoken out about his tweet from NATO? Why are they silent when such comments are said baffles me. He's quick to call European countries out...

Don't think it's NATO's turf to do 'politics'. On the other hand, the European Union, it's members, UK, Canada, Oz etc all free to criticise if they wish

Pakistan president Sharif has requested a two week ceasefire with the opening of the straits to allow diplomacy to work. Could see trump coming out with a statement that out of respect for his good friend the president of Pakistan, he will accept if Iran does …….

Looking more likely as Iran has indicated it would agree.

If this is true (and it may well be), then it obviously serves no geopolitical or strategic utility whatsoever. Which only tends to leave motivations based mostly on pure sadism.

possibly a “ get out there and overthrow them” mixed in there..

I wonder who they're more afraid of, their own leaders or Trump? What a terrible position to be in.

right. And I think that might be trumps motivation. “ get out there and fight for your freedom” it’s a very American trait and as@leicsmac rightly pointed out also painted with sadism

Apparently Iranians are going out to stand on bridges and around power plants.

I wonder what kind of dumbass soldier it takes to fire a missile at a bridge packed with civilians, given you're totally allowed to refuse an order that would be a war crime.

He does realise that you can't liberate people if they're all dead?

It would be a very long and slippery legal slope to prove that it was a war crime. They even imprisoned the CIA agent who spoke up against the torture program, baring in mind that the torture of prisoners  had its  illegality  inshrined in to law as far back as the 1940s..

your life would be effectively over.

Can't believe there's talk about the use of nuclear weapons on here! Posters casually talking about their deployment like it would even be an option!

That's crazy stuff Foxestalk!

I think it’s because there is a leader in charge of some weapons who is saying and doing things very unlike anything we have seen before. He is difficult to predict  and appears to be somewhat of a maverick.

Although it is worth noting that according to federal documents there appears to have been two assassination attempts on his life by people who both claimed they were working with the Iranian government. It’s possibly , amongst other reasons,  that these are  why Trump seems so invested in the downfall of the current regime in Iran.

TACO Tuesday

Trump’s announced a two week pause

Surprise surprise !

who or what has twisted Iran’s arm ??  Not a shock that trump backed out of the corner he’d put himself into but I wondered if Iran would stare him down.

Boring in its predictability.

We'll have a day of being told he's playing 4D chess now.

Meanwhile the world's greatest superpower has all but lost its allies and has been embarrassed by Iran in a very simple way.

Taco taco'd it.

His base, his useless republican senators/congressmen will say what a brilliant and strong negotiator King Trump is as they wipe his seed off their faces.

Just as an aside, the proposed ceasefire is between the U.S and Iran.  I’m not convinced that Israel is involved in this.. or whether this involves Irans neighbors. I can see a scenerio where Irans continues and maybe even intensifies it’s attacks on Saudi Arabia and UAE  and that missiles are maybe fired at or from Israel during the next two weeks…

I wonder if there was another spoke in oil contracts before this announcement? I wouldn't be surprised if there was.

Trump needs to go. He's a risk to the world.

Which at the present time and place is an impossible task, and Trump knows that as well as anyone.

So we're back to the idea that he and his view the lives of the Iranian people as totally dispensable in a way that suits no clear objective, which comes back to the sadism.

Castro had over six hundred documented attempts on his life by the US. He didn't throw his toys out of the pram as a result.

But then it was always obvious that the current incumbent in the White House has skin as thin as it is orange.

But overall, looks like we're pretty much back to where we started in terms of overall geopolitical situation, only with a rather large economic shock and quite a few people killed.

All seems very much worth it, right?

Amazing from President Trump. What’s that ? 9 wars settled - incredible. I mean he may have started this one, made outrageous claims, lost his balls and then got bailed out by Pakistan but you know, a ceasefire is a ceasefire.

This might be more impressive than him settling the ferocious war between Albania and Azerbaijan.
