Equally, the opposite, there are those born into the right circles, with opportunity handed to them but have no smarts.

Oh, absolutely, so many examples exist of that particular privilege.

From what I can tell, the action in Albania is mostly targeting government infrastructure.

I think that's the case.

Anyway, good to see the ones who would happily see Alberta become a 51st state under the sociopaths to the south (it was never about separatism btw) put back in their box for a while, though I'm sure they won't stop.

We went to Albania this year, the locals are pissed with the oligarchs and the inviting of trump in. They are also fed up with excessive developments waved through their system that they blame of corruption.

Kushner has bought a former military base on an island the locals think will be a nuclear hideaway for his family.

TLDR typical nimbies blocking development again. Bet they vote lib dem.

Thanks for the extra info, as I thought then.

Glad there's pushback being made there for that reason.

ITV showing Reform for what they are once again, then.

Not sure how much utility it will serve, though.

On its own, probably not much. But as one small contribution to a steady drip feed of reminders to the public about what Reform are like, it may make a difference. You do not have to scratch far beneath the surface of Reform before you uncover a legion of mad racists, weirdo sex pests, domestic abusers, fraudsters etc. They have to recruit people who are clearly unfit for office because hardly any sane or decent people would consider joining them. If the media does its job of truthfully showing Reform for what it is, I suspect they'll do far less well in the next election that the polls are currently predicting.

They are already basically saying its not over. Yes biatch it is. Move on and work with the Canadian provinces and Feds to help make life better in Alberta. Carney has already started this work. Listen to provinces grievances! I agree with Albertan's who want to abolish the unelected Senate.  People should be elected to the senate and IMO each province should get a set amount of representation woth term limits. That might have some nuances based on population of each province.

And it also looks like the Maple MAGA fifth columnists in Alberta may well not get what they want, either.

Some hope, then.

Was never going to happen, the numbers were known to not be in favour by a wide margin a long time ago

That all sounds good.

AFAIC any good intentions on their part have been taken over by those intent on destabilising a decent country in the name of MAGA nationalism anyway.

Yikes. Beggars belief.

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026/oct/19/mississippi-attorney-general-kohen-wiley-killing-justified

On Monday, the office of the Mississippi attorney general, Lynn Fitch, announced that the police shooting of Kohen Wiley, a one-year-old, as he sat in his mother’s lap “was justified”. The statement came four months after the baby was killed in Senatobia, Mississippi.

On 14 June, officers in Senatobia, a small city near Memphis, were responding to a shoplifting call alleging Vellesiya Wiley, the baby’s mother, and Latoya Ferrell, a friend, had stolen a pack of diapers. Neither woman has been charged with a crime. Officials have not released any evidence of shoplifting.

The BBC is to close its BBC Three and BBC Scotland television channels in the spring, as the corporation continues to make £500m of savings over two years.

Both services will become online-only, meaning they will continue to produce and host some content on iPlayer, without the need to fill a terrestrial TV schedule.

With all this BBc stuff going on iPlayer I hope they'll improve the layout because it's awful trying to find programmes even when following link. It's looks like and I'm sure it has just evolved from when there was just a few programmes on there.

Also BBC 4 Extra I notice.

I'll miss that, it had some good and interesting archive programmes.

Central to Americans' identity as a nation is that their culture and belief systems are European but that Europe is also irrevocably in decline, economically and spiritually. They need to keep telling themselves this.

And, more's the pity, they're choosing to make such narcissistic cognitive dissonance the world's problem rather than just their own.

No mate, you don't get it.

Clearly the woman involved was presenting a capital threat to the police officers and clearly she was using her child as a human shield, thus giving the aforementioned police officers total justification to use lethal force against a one year old child.

Clearly.

Reckon they're cost-cutting in case they lose the Trump alleged edited speech matter towards his multi-€billion claim (possibly unlikely to happen though)...:dunno:

... given the specifics of that case at the present time, there is next to no chance of them losing it, for the record.

They're cutting because people don't want to or aren't paying the licence fee which is up for review anyway

In this digital on demand age, the licence fee is an anachronism.

The fact remains, however, that a ring-fenced source of funding to (at the very least) the news element of the Beeb is a matter of essentialness.

Clearly.

Two things here.

If they were white, the police wouldn't have shot.

But if they did, they'd be given the police officers the same treatment they reserve for... Well, I'm not going to use the word, but y'know.

Here's a quandary. If she was a white woman with a black baby? Or if she was mixed race and her baby was white, but her friend was black? What's the skin colour chart/pull trigger tipping point?

How about making it ad free if you buy a licence? I really hate ads, they're basically fear inducers for the most part.

Something terrible could happen to YOU!
