You might be right, but given the ascendancy of such thought (as evidenced by current UK polling figures) and the consequences of them taking hold for too long, I'm inclined to take any such sentiments seriously and challenge them whenever they occur.

You’re not wrong at all sadly.

I think the world is in a strange place right now

It is indeed. Gramsci was right about the "time of monsters".

But if we come through the interregnum, and better times are possible - probable, in fact.

Unfortunately there are so many ways that can go wrong, so many people looking to steer in that wrong direction for the sake of their own short term self interest, and only a few ways to get it right.

Also, how am I lying? I asked a question. lol

You didn't ask a question, I'm not an idiot. You deliberately downplayed the annual fee or you're just here to troll. The amount is almost double and if you're paying it you should know already unless you're a millionaire so you just don't care.

I hope you can buy our club.

You assume I'm anti BBC because I've expressed my disappointment regarding the specific criminal act. I've already said I'm still paying the fee despite not needing one. You're just chasing dragons and failing to see my point of view.

BBC must publish a lengthy sincere apology but instead of doing this they're siding with politicians making the situation worse.

Let’s be honest, have Trump, Starmer, Johnson, Truss, Xi Jingping, Putin, Modi, Leyen, Meloni, Biden, Erdogan, Netanyahu, Kishida etc all issued apologies when they’ve over elaborated on the truth. Politicians all use propaganda on a daily basis and spin the truth to suit themselves.

Every single news outlet does the same, some more than others.

I haven’t read half of your posts as you haven’t replied to others.

I’m in the “I don’t care” category

I actually have no idea how much it is.

I’m comfortable enough financially that I just set these things up on Direct Debit and they sort themselves out. I don’t want to buy a football club though that’s bleeding money and I don’t have a spare £200m down the back of the sofa.

To be honest, that post is hardly unique in this situation. I'm still waiting to hear a cogent argument from anyone wanting to see the Beeb heavily punished regarding the vital wider context here and what it would mean if truth became simply a matter of the highest bidder or the smoothest talker or the biggest bully, rather than what actually is.

Politicians are judged by the public via democratic routes (where possible). Media like BBC can also choose to take part in this propaganda game but there are always consequences. If also the media that take part in this are state funded and partially public funded the consequences are going to be more devastating.

... and when they lie well enough to convince enough people that they are speaking truth, and put that into policy with all the associated consequences? And when things go wrong, they lie again and people buy it because their manipulation is that good?

Where is the accountability then?

DARTS legend Phil “The Power” Taylor called into a large Bradford retailer to buy an 86-inch TV.

You see, this is the kind of informative, essential and ground-breaking narrative that the BBC so frequently choses to leave the British public in ignorance of

It always amazes me the people who moan about paying £174.50 a year for a licence often pay £80+ a month to watch a few football matches a month... On channels that have adverts!

I guess that’s a choice though, versus legally having to pay the BBC to watch non-BBC content live. I understand the complaint if people do not watch BBC.

Or just scaremongering?

He does have a serious problem in progressing policies so suspect there is truth in it.  The ID cards are the perfect example of an idea that was previously favoured by the majority, but when he announced it became deeply unpopular purely because it was then aligned to Starmer.  Not ideal given the amount of work they have to do over the parliament.

So long as you're not watching it live (does anyone?) you can watch any non-BBC TV channel without a TV licence.

Minor issue stitching deliberately words and broadcasting in dozens of millions around the planet? Are you serious? Should I do the same to you then?

Do you have any evidence the Panorama show was shown outside the UK?  Its certainly not available on iPlayer, because that is not available outside the UK.
