As bleak as things look, one thing we seem to have got right is the academy. Some of the lads were bringing through look extremely promising. The type of lads who are probably ready to step up. Particularly Aluko, Monga and hopefully Evans. But Joseph looks excellent too, and Page…… he looked brilliant. I know we can’t get carried away but a 16 year old lad to have that kind of composure in a senior game was very impressive.

A season in the Premier League is bleak, but even the current squad without reinforcement in the Championship we have every reason to be positive.

We have fantastic depth on the wings and 10 with Mavididi, Bilal, Fatawu, Monga, Alves, Mcateer, Nelson and Okoli will be among the best CB pairing in the league, fullbacks and midfield are. Also strong in the championship.

Strikers are our weakest area but love him or hate him Ayew will do a good job in the Championship as a 9.

The unknown, is which players we lose and if we receive an embargo or points deduction but I'm still very positive.

Nelson - Starter

Alves, Aluko, Monga, - In the 18 for sure, great options off the bench ( Monga potentially a starter if BEK leaves)

Evans, Joseph, Page - Too young to loan out-  Ones to watch as the season progresses, hope they get opportunities!

Marcal, Golding, Braybrooke, Cartwright, Briggs - in an ideal word they need good & competitive L1/L2 loans with managers that trust youth, ( Peterborough, Wigan, Walsall, Exeter etc.)

It’s the perfect time to start bringing through these players lots of teams are bringing through young players while we are lagging behind, clear out the rubbish and start again.

Shift out the dead wood and high earners Skipp, Soumare, Ndidi and Winks are all limited and offer nothing going forward I’d only keep Ndidi out of them.

Faes, Vesterrguard, Vk, BDCR would not be missed either.

I would keep Ricardo, Coady, Ayew and Ndidi for experience.

Watched the game on YouTube, solid enough first outing overall. Positives for me were the young lads not looking out of place and confident in what was asked of them and the team being told to press high and in packs.

considering they’d been doing double sessions and first week back straight into 45 min game the fitness didn’t look bad either, hopefully we can get back to being a really fit side like we used to associate with us, feel we lacked that last season amongst many other things.

page took his second goal brilliantly too and is deffo one to keep an eye on. Is he 16 or 17?

I thought Coady was terrible yesterday - Never seems to be expecting a pass and his lack of pace is embarrassing

His talking yesterday was complete and utter twaddle as well.

There's communication and there's shite like 'Jezza again son' which means absolutely **** all.

He's probably the single worse signing we've made and that takes some doing

I liked the cut of Kingy's jib before the game as well. He spoke excellently about the first week of training. I'm not saying he should have the job or even that he will be a future Leicester manager, but he simply has to remain involved to some extent. He's not only a club legend but a consummate professional. His achievements with this club also demand respect from any player who puts on the shirt. Maybe one day he'll get a chance in the hot seat, maybe he'll have to go away again to be able to come back and get that chance, but right now he needs to be a real part of the new manager's backroom staff, whoever that may be.

I think I’d rather see him stay as a coach. As soon as you become a manager, your time at a club is limited. He’ll either get sacked or get head hunted. We need Kingy around long term. Obviously it depends on his ambitions but he has so much to offer yet as a coach.

I live in a village just outside of Oxford. On Saturday night I was chatting to an Oxford Utd season ticket holder in one of the local pubs. When I asked him about Nelson we launched into a five-minute monologue praising every aspect of his game. He said he was head and shoulders above everyone else on the pitch whenever he played and is clearly a future England starter. I really do hope we get to see him for a season or two first…

Should never have gone there, he’d shown enough qualities in the previous seasons cameo’s, very John Stones like, should’ve been first pick last season.

If 11 goals is a good job then yeah he'd ace it.

I was posting about our current squad  without additions.

Currently he's our best option at 9.

Evans doesn't seem to be getting rave reviews? I thought he was going to be our new number 9?

Hopefully he gets some chances off the bench this season as looked good vs other kids when I've seen his clipped footage of him.

He’s not a striker

Daka is a better option at 9 than Ayew - who isn't one.

lol Jesus. Tell us how you really feel about him.

He was absolutely fine. I have absolutely no strong feelings about Coady and getting rid of him for a few million would be a great result. I do agree that he's not been a great signing. However, some of that is a bit of our his control as he was injured at the start of the championship season which meant he couldn't break in. But to suggest he's our worst signing ever is beyond hyperbolic, especially when you're replying to a post talking about Vestergaard and Faes who both cost double and are much more calamitous.

Pretty isolated. Did some good stuff coming deep for the ball but just a bit of a non- performance

Nah, don't think he would even get 11 goals, he isn't mentally strong enough to be the main man.

Agree Ayew isn't a 9, but if we're not selling him I would rather him play down the middle than take minutes from Monga, Alves, Mavididi, Fatawu or any other wide forward.

He scored 7 goals in 12 nineties last time in the championship  - Ayew has scored more than 7 league goals in a season once in his career.

Besides we need to sell Daka for the benefit of broth parties but he's the only senior actual striker we have currently

It's a horrible conversation to have, comparing Ayew and Daka😂
