Neither Alves (Huddersfield) or Evans (Northampton) have anything to play for next weekend in League One

 

But there are some big games next weekend in League Two

 

Braybrooke (Chesterfield) and Wilson-Brown (Swindon Town) will go head to head in a fight for a playoff place

 

 

Joseph (Tranmere Rovers) and Opoku (Newport County) are both fighting against relegation

 

Tranmere play Grimsby who are 6th

Newport play Barrow who are 24th

Crawley play Salford who are 4th

Harrogate play Barnet who are 9th

He’s been given such patchy opportunities it’s really hard to judge him. Manning decided early doors he didn’t rate him and that was that. 

 

We are all clutching at straws that these youngsters get a shot next season, if the wrong manager comes in,  they won’t get the chance they deserve.  Absolutely essential we get someone who isn’t afraid to give youth time. We might have a bumpy start but if we can get a young core to gel that gives youth a real chance to push on if you get promoted as they potentially have a huge ceiling. But if we end up plugging gaps with one season players (we likely will) then we’re still not going to progress the way we want

Let’s be realistic, playing the youth next season will be less a decision based on football ideology and more on financial necessity.

Of course we all want him to be a success.

but as of now, I’ve not seen much evidence that he’s the same player he was pre ACL 

 

hopefully he can have a strong preseason and get himself sorted physically/mentally. Needs a coach here to put an arm around him and tell him that if he can do that then he’s the man for that left side.

From what I’ve read it sounds like he’s a very raw player that shows flashes but also can frustrate fans. 

It’s not that uncommon for youngsters to have a few poor loans before a breakout season.
 

It might be that it never happens for him but we’re now in a league that’s probably more suited to his level at the moment. Can cover LW & attacking mid and wage wise not a problem.

 

Easy to say now but maybe he’d have benefited from a league 2 loan like Braybrooke has? Although no way the club expected us to end up in League One

I wonder what he's like attitude wise, doesn't strike me as a bad character or anything but you wonder whether he has that extra desire to get in the team. 

Shown great effort to get back injury though of course so probably nothing wrong with his attitude. 

But for 3 managers not to fancy him this season, and then when you add the managers here who haven't either. It's pretty damning. 

 

Still hopeful he can star for us next season but for his own career, its time to deliver.

Flair players have to given time, also easy to forget like Braybrooke he's lost a whole year's development and is still only 20.

 

I think it was the right level after a decent loan spell at Cardiff.

 

In 1432 minutes across to loans hes scored 4 goals amd 3 assists, 7 goal contribution around 1 every 2.2 matches.

Agree completely. Did nearly say in my original post players like Alves always seem to take a bit longer. 
 

At league one level with regular game time I do think he’ll be a handy player. He does always look a threat just about getting that consistency

Obviously no one has a clue but what do we reckon happens with Cartwright? Got experience in the Scottish Prem but his contract is up this summer

Evans and Alves will make great squad options next year.

If we can keep Monga to start and add another winger (maybe one a little more experienced with good delivery - Jed Wallace anyone?) then we’ve got real depth there, Silko Thomas another option too.

Isn’t Silko Thomas’s contract finished.Doubt he will get offered another.

I was thinking he would be release of we were in the Championship, we may get a sniff in League One.

Alves does have the work ethic defensively but struggles with the positioning side of it.

I know it's common sense that all the loan players will leave, all the out on loan players will return, and given relegation, all the out of contract players will be allowed to move on ... but does anyone know when the official statement from the club regards retained and released player lists will be?

I think with loans especially you have to do absolutely everything the manager wants, or they’d rather use a player that belongs to the club. There was a lot of pressure on huddersfield to get promotion and I think the managers were always going  to opt for a guy like harness over him due to his experience. 
 

It’s definitely odd that a player who got good minutes in the championship ended up with less in league 1
