He's not kicked a football since that Huddersfield game has he? Lad's gonna be rusty as hell if he starts. If he is being brought into the team then he needs to be allowed time to develop match fitness again.

 

He's already proved he's a good defender at this level. I hope Marti isn't just introducing him for this game to appease the fans and actually wants to integrate him into the team.

Even looking at it from a crass business point of view, during his spell at Oxford last year we had a player steamrolling his way towards us being able to sell another academy product for at least 20m pure profit. Makes no sense even from a business point of view to not be playing him.

He's a professional footballer. Literally all he does is play football.

To me, this feels a little bit like when Cags got to play against Man City that season he was dropped by Brendan, so shoehorn 3 at the back.

 

Brendan went back to normal the next game and Cags wasn't seen again until Dean Smith turned up.

I hope he starts but I also hope he doesn’t turn into the next scapegoat. The lad needs a proper run in the squad. I’d be inclined to give him a run of games, even if he’s not up to scratch tonight. We’ve dealt with Vesty/Faes for too long now.

That's up there with "if fat bob can neck 20 pints of carling on a saturday and play on sunday then why can't a pro" lol

 

I hope you're joking, you must understand that performance levels will increase as a player gets match fit/sharp.

He knows he's toast. This is a hail mary type of thing and it hardly ever works.

Did he really get pelters, though? I think it was more people saying (rightly in my view) that he clearly looks promising but isn't quite ready for the physicality of Championship football as a starter. Even Pipes on RL made this point. I think there is a danger that people conflate constructive assessment with 'hating on' players.

Yep. He can't win at the minute but the alleged selection of Silko Thomas at LWB is a real left field one, I think.

Feel sorry for Ben. Finally gets his chance, but has to play with Skipp in front of him and a new right back at the side of him. Hope he doesn't get exposed by those around him or a change of system.

Nelson hasn't even seen the bench in weeks, how does it go from Cifuentes believing he isn't even good enough for the bench to starting him in the space of 3 days
