We’ve seen some promising centre backs and aside from Fofana he looks the next best. Super player and he should absolutely have started the first game onwards.

It’s almost like we should trust the academy and let this be a lesson with Evans, Aluko, Cartwright, Braybrooke, Bruggs, JJ, Hutchinson et al

Gobsmacked that young player who looked good in this league for a poorer side looks good in a slightly better one. We got there in the end but we've cost ourselves a fair few points by freezing him out as long as we did.

And may well have cost him staying, which is a much bigger cost in terms of what he could earn us down the line.

I would like to think we could sort this out now as in the last six weeks Cifuentes has actually proven he's first choice, therefore has a good reason to stay.

I hope so. I depends if any other clubs have swooped in during the time he was inexplicably frozen out and turned his head.

Would seriously love to know why it took so long for him to play. If it’s as simple as he had a bad game in the cup then that’s mental in my opinion.

The need to play the ‘senior’ players. Whether dictated to from above Marti or not who knows.

Fans also have to take some responsibility as there was no pressure put to play him. When Faes and Vestergaard were giving away goals each week through their constant errors, all we heard was about Nelson having a bad 45 against Huddersfield and how Vestergaard is the best defender in the league…

Not sure what Evans has to do to get a game. Particularly with Daka going to AFCON. We’ll only have Ayew (who is clearly first choice now in my eyes despite how frustrating he can be) and Carranza - and he clearly isn’t fancied at all.

Under pressure manager resorting to ‘experienced players’ rather than promising youth. Its a tale as old as time.

I think there's a pecking order in football and senior International players on high wages will always get priority from a new manager to nail down a starting spot over a academy prospect.

Anyway whatever the reason we've looked a far better team with Nelson and credit to the player that he's taken his chance, especially after some heavy defeats.

Err, not really, because I never said that he should be playing.

Was he not the answer against Boro, Derby, Ipswich then when we’ve looked more solid and secure?
I might be wrong but I didn’t see you on here telling everyone that he weren’t the answer then?
One poor game yesterday and he’s done 🤣

I thought he was the worst player against Ipswich. He kept giving the ball away.

Sorry lads, Nelson is not the answer.

Depends a little bit on the question. Was at a pub quiz and the question was “LCFC defender, same surname as famous British naval officer” and he was actually the answer.
