Did enough at Cardiff last season that as an impact player out wide would be of use to us.

That’s scraping the proverbial barrel ric and you know it - him and Nelson hugely failed their auditions- don’t get me wrong the more senior hamza, thomas, mcateer and soumare were as bad if not worse but you can’t find a way to polish those performances no way

let me just finalise the point though - the kids are not the problem in any way - there are a million and 1 problems but the kids aren’t 1 - and everyone should want them to succeed

I get that, but he HAS been given some opportunities and he really, really hasn't made the most of them - I'm just wondering whether he actually can?

Tonight has been the only proper opportunity he has ever been given at Leicester so far

What opportunities has Alves had for us? Don't think he has had many.

He's been given enough minutes to make an impact. He hasn't made an impact. There must be a reason managers don't seem to fancy him.

I really, really, really hope he can prove me wrong, I really do.

How was Nelson 2nd half? Alves never had that opportunity.

Do I think him having a few decent games in his first proper bit of senior football playing in a shite Cardiff side where the fans were slagging off the entire team is acceptable?

Yes I do

The lads dog poo mate unfortunately it’s a shame everyone had high hopes but he’s not on the Ievel as Monga page Nelson and even Evan’s imo. Injury ducked him over you could say I’ll give you that one before you mention it 😂

Caden Voice has a lot to answer for. Will is still going to be a decent player, but I don't think he'll become the player he could have been, because of that nasty little ****.

Was just thinking this. **** that Wolves thug

Nelson was much better 2nd half and did well, Thomas also had a good game and doesn't deserve any stick.

Find it mad how incredibly quick some fans are to write off our own youngsters. ****ing mental.

Thomas had a good game - wow 😮

We're the ones failing him, not the other way round. He should be off on another half/full season loan to get a whole season under his belt post injury... not sitting around waiting for a chance because we don't have enough ****ing options because we're brassic.

He needs starts, week in week out. He won't get that here this season and we will kill him if he's getting ten mins here or there for the next 4 months.

We're out the cup, he HAS to go out on loan.

Doesn’t exactly sound like it the way you’ve laid into him based on 45m tonight.

Wouldn't say I've laid into him have I? I just said he might be pony. He's been hypes beyond belief for literally years now, hyped way before anyone even mentioned Monga and Monga is making an impact at 16.

Not laid into him at all. Like I said, hope he proves me wrong.

He's got to show a hell of a lot more if he wants to get in the side.  His preferred position/s has/ve depth to them.  It's not enough to be tidy and risk averse.  People can say the players around him aren't helping, but then he has the opportunity to stand out more.  If he's playing on the wing, he's going top have to start beating players.  If he's playing a 10 he's going to have to start creating.  He's got to show something.  And right now, he's not.

There were a lot of poor performances tonight, which is why just doing one or 2 positive things could really have stood out.  But he was pretty much anonymous.  And with the League cup now gone, that's even fewer opportunities to impress.

If he's looking at being 3rd choice in his favoured role then he should go for a loan somewhere he can play regularly.

Wednesday?

I genuinely hope Will Alves becomes a lcfc first team player and proves me wrong! I love it when academy players break through it’s what its all about. IMO I just don’t think he’s got it.

I think the problem for Alves now is that Monga and Page are much younger yet and we're able to play with much more confidence and affect the game in a positive way.

Unfortunately Alves didn't really do much first half.

1 minute vs Man City

4 minutes vs Watford

11 minutes vs MK Dons

18 minutes vs Tranmere

18 minutes vs Man Utd

45 minutes vs Huddersfield

That is all the minutes he has had at Leicester so far

So we've deduced he's not an impact sub.

Not sure that sets him up to be an impact starter?

Compare to how good Monga looked back end of last season.

Can’t read too much into tonight imo. Not like many players outshone him in the first 45mins. For whatever reason we collectively weren’t on it so can’t expect a youngster to carry the team.

To impress the average idiot in Foxestalk as a young player at Leicester you first need to do the 92 on loan

I think he’d suit playing behind 2 strikers - rather than Daka running around aimlessly.

He’s clearly lost his electric pace since that horrific injury. But he’s young. Hopefully he can get some minutes and build his confidence and speed back up.

I imagine they benefit from the fact no one has committed GBH against them on a football field yet...

I think he's at a point in his career where he really needs to excel and prove his worth.

I don't think being a back up player, playing every now and again, will be of benefit to him at all.

Needs to be playing consistently.

There's clearly a player in there, somewhere, but he's looked none existent every time he's featured and i can't see that changing with him sat on the bench for the majority of the season.
