We likely follow this up with a couple of limp defeats.

A long way to go before any corner is turned.

Totally agree, this is naught but a stay of execution. It must continue at the same intensity levels.

He made the team sit back like cowards in the 2nd half only inviting more pressure causing the clean sheet to be wiped.

We hounded Cooper out for this exact reason. Its simply poor tactics.

Was we ever 3-0 up with cooper in charge? Cooper would set up like us second half from the first whistle and pray we score first

Cooper was backwards. He would start defensively, wait until we were 2-0 down, then try to attack a bit, maybe pull one back, still lose.

Then the next week, set out defensively until 2-0 down again. Literally sending a team out to waste everybody's time and give up from the start.

Fabregas summarises it perfectly.

Yes, I completely agree but he didn't do that did he? Strange example to use. The team completely retreated into their shell before he made any changes. He made 3 like for like changes and then a couple that were more defensive minded, because he didn't have the other options. Not making any changes would have been mental

I think it would have been a lot more comfortable if the daka for Ayew sub came earlier, alongside the Hamza for Bob sub. We were penned in for a good 10 minutes or so because we were too deep, Derby could push their defense right up because they knew Ayew was basically static. Once Daka and Silko came on we had a counter attacking threat again.

I've been very critical of Marti, but can't batter him too much for that second half  - Derby were much more aggressive in the second half and it was never going to be as easy.

He hasn't covered himself in glory the last while and was a bit tense towards the finish today.

But that first half today was top notch and we could/should have been 4-0. Have to be happy overall.

It could all mean little this time next week but let's hope for more.

Did he? Or did it just happen? The one thing I get really annoyed with on here is people just blaming people for things they might not have done.

Maybe Derby just pushed us back.

Did Daka even touch the ball?

Delighted today but you could argue taking 19 games to tell your pacey wingers to run at defenders, and your midfielders to get the ball over the top to them quickly is a ****ing disgrace

I just feel that we were so good in the first half with our pressing and industry (and deadly finishing) that Derby didn’t know what had hit them. His scaredy-cat ‘sit back’ stance after the interval made for needlessly nervy viewing because it handed a very average side the initiative. We could have powered them out of the game completely with a continuation of the first half strategy but no, we made it hard on ourselves and because of the defensive mindset continually lost 50-50s and sloppily conceded possession.

Spot on analysis, Marti utilising Dyche tactics in the 2nd half completely abandoning our philosophy of attacking football.

Why stop the press? Why make them sit back? Its just pure cowardIce and a reminder that he is out of his depth.

If you don't have the courage to abide by your promises that landed you this role then you have failed your assignment.

We're playing Derby not Man City.

The experts in the match thread screamed for him to come on as he scores a goal a year and we would have been better with him on.

The ‘experts’ understand that you don’t have to score a goal to affect a game, the threat of his pace would have kept 3 of their players out of our half therefore there wouldn’t have been an overload in the middle of the pitch which would have allowed us to get the ball which we couldn’t when Ayew was on in that period of the game 🤷‍♂️

Yeh spot on, we don't need a deadly striker we need someone that runs about a lot, a goal a year but he moved a defender a few yards away to the side allowing one of our players to stop and have a breather

What happened when Daka & Silko finely came on? What happened to Derby’s attacking threat that they had from around 50minutes to that 78minute, they were all over us until we had an out he made the change far to late they could quite easily have scored a 2nd in that period & who knows what would have happened then.

If when another striker is signed,do you want one who's deadly or ok at running about a bit. The one you're keen on is called a midfield player.

Which deadly striker should we have brought on instead of Daka?

Confused by 'another' striker. If we sign a striker they will be the only striker at the club.

My replies refer to the battle not the war…today in that 20-30 minute period we needed a player(s) to give their back 3 something to think about and not be comfortable playing 10yrds inside our half.

For the war yes we need a 10-15 goal striker

Well make yer mind up, you wanted the spare ineffective striker on to move about a bit.  But like you say if he can't score who else can come on? well a defender has a similar strike rate

What do you mean make yer mind up?

We needed fresh legs on to occupy their defenders.  Daka can do that.  If you'd rather have seen Faes come on and do that, fair enough, but I'd rather see Patson doing it.
