Ah right. You not seen his record at this level?

I assume you’d rather go for someone in Europe with no experience whatsoever at this level.

I'm all for Tony Pulis

Why?

He’s a good manager. Bournemouth have spent shed loads of money since he left there and he did okay at Wolves for the squad they had. The players all respect him. I assume you wouldn’t want him because…..

ah yeah he’s English.

literally anyone who’s English on this forum is immediately shot down

Bournemouth improved massively after he left.
Who are these stand out English managers we should be looking at? Martin, Manning or Still.
I’m not against English managers I just think we should at least look abroad.
Dave Challinor at Stockport is someone I’ve mentioned before who I’d like but don’t think he’d get a look in. As is Ritchie Wellens.
I just think there are better managers out there than O’Neil.

Did you not see Wolves before he was sacked? They were terrible, he was arguing with players and isn't really what we need.

Bournemouth - again, they were struggling when he left. Bournemouth's improvement is down to them having recruited an exceptional manager since. He also, I think, had a major strop.

He isn't the answer. English managers don't get a look on, because they're generally not very good. Bar Eddie Howe who has done an outstanding job at Newcastle, who had a blip at Burnley, there isn't many good English managers. That's why clubs look abroad. It isn't a bias against it, there isn't any that are very good, or as progressive as some of the managers from abroad.

I thought Carrick would break the mould as he comes across as quite intelligent person, but even he struggled towards the end and couldn't take them to the next level. Lampard seems to have found his level, but not sure if he has the know-how to keep Cov up if/when they do.

This is the issue with this argument and it one that winds me up at work, you want to employ THE best you can. I don't care their gender, ethnicity, where they're based. If you're good enough, you've got the job. You can't employ someone just because 'theyre English etc...' you employ the best candidate you think for the job.

I won't even mention Rooney.

Add on - I wouldn't want King to be our manager either.

Challinor and Wellens give me Brian Little and Nigel Pearson vibes, but really cannot see Top and Rudkin going near them. It will be Russell Martin, I wouldn’t be shocked if Liam Manning was also considered as both fit the mould of playing the style that Top has become so fixated with.

God I hope it isn’t Martin.
I still hope we’ll get Corberan but I think we missed our chance last summer.

Yes we were but stupidly we paid 30m+ for Skipp and Ayew instead of paying for Corberan.

Paul Simonis.
Just been sacked by Wolfsburg.
Did well with Go Ahead Eagles in Holland.
Has previous experience with developing young players.

Well if he's your type you crack on

O'Neil would be a disaster. I was hoping Southampton would remove him from the field before our next manager search, but their fans have rebelled over his history with Portsmouth and it probably won't happen. Wolves looked like they would go back for him initially, but their fans rebelled over his history of being a terrible manager and that also didn't happen. He'll get a job somewhere else eventually—I just hope it happens before we give Marti the boot...

With Middlesbrough getting Hellberg, Norwich appointing Clement and Swansea looking at Matos will we follow suit and actually go for someone from abroad without any experience in this country?
I very much doubt it but hope we will.
I do realize Clement has managed Rangers previously.
If QPR can get Stephan surely we should be able to attract someone decent.

I just don’t want Martin or Gary O’Neil.

I don't see Marti being fired any time soon as we are still in the running for a playoff spot & I cant see Top wanting to make a move before he has new people in place.

Marti really hasn't been helped with the club bringing in three loans in the Summer & one is injured & one doesn't look like he will make it.

I personally feel the current squad is over rated by our fan base & while Marti is underwhelming, so is the squad.
