STUHILL Posted 10 February Posted 10 February Gareth Southgate has said that he is not looking for a return to football management, saying it would be hard to recreate the “higher calling” he found as England’s manager. He said this only a couple of Months ago. No way he comes to a job like this, with that kind of thinking. 2
ACF Posted 10 February Posted 10 February I’m very conscious of not resorting to needing a Messiah return viewpoint, like how United have acted since SAF left. But a Walsh and Smith double act would really get me excited to fix the structural and cultural issues at the club. 2
cruzFOX Posted 10 February Posted 10 February Will be near impossible to get the entire behind the scenes crew 2015 back again but the template they laid out is still there. Just gotta find the right talent to fill the positions. i don’t know what we have now but it all seems fractured and non functioning

foxgas Posted 10 February Posted 10 February Following the Watford model Pep Guardiolas relatives are a possibility now.

That speaks volumes. We can’t even throw season tickets at him because of mobile ticketing. Throw your phone at him? 2
fox_favourite Posted 10 February Posted 10 February (edited) Dean Smith is now the new favourite in the bookies (Bet victor) Rylan has fallen down a bit. Gerrard 2nd I know it doesn't mean much but it's all we've got to go on. No other rumours, talk or anything to go on. Edited 10 February by fox_favourite
winteriscoming Posted 10 February Author Posted 10 February Great to see us thinking outside the box with Smith, Southgate and Gerrard…… Here’s hoping a new name comes up today.

After 2 weeks it's atrocious way to run a football club. It just screams to me that they hope King wins tonight, but he's made it clear he doesn't want it much longer to be honest. Rudkin knows how to throw people under the bus if his job is at stake. Vile way to treat people. Edited 10 February by fox_favourite

Vile way to treat people. Rudkin's job is not, nor has it ever been at stake. In any other organisation he'd have been long gone by now. Top obviously likes him a lot. 2
teblin Posted 10 February Posted 10 February In terms of Actual links who have we had? Enzo Vito from local Wolverhampton paper. Then Names from Football insider which can be taken with a pinch of salt. (which is where the coleman and smith links came form I think) Sure I have missed some but doesn't seem like many credible links. We are quite guarded I know as a club.

Doesn't seem realistic any time soon seeing he was giving interviews in the USA only a day or two ago unless he is being interviewed for the job on Zoom. Doesn't need a tour of Spagrave I guess as knows all about it. Edited 10 February by Gazza M

Wsl Posted 10 February Posted 10 February Pep. Because he's finally snapped and is tired of people saying he can only manage with world class and gazillion costing squads plus unlimited funds, and now does want to prove that he can win on a cold, rainy night at Stoke.

Could be Emma Hayes 1
Jazzy_Jeff Posted 10 February Posted 10 February The delay makes me think it must be someone in work, Smith is the obvious one as he’s not only in a job but doing one abroad. Didnt Fuchs play for him too? The number of links makes it hard to ignore 2

Didnt Fuchs play for him too? The number of links makes it hard to ignore This is also what I think. If our preferred candidate was currently out of work and actually wanted the job, he'd be in place already. So it's probably safe to say we're unlikely to appoint Martin, Gerrard, Coleman or Rowett. Southgate clearly isn't a genuine candidate. If our target manager is currently in work, as seems likely, the question then is whether they're willing to quit and join us now (which will mean we're haggling with their club over compensation) or want to see out the season with their club and join us in the summer (which would imply we're looking for—and probably struggling to find—somebody for the interim gig). This would bring Smith, Skubala, Keane, Challinor etc into play. 1
Parker Pen Posted 10 February Posted 10 February Maybe the rumour for Southgate is for head of Accountancy!
