Assuming Nelson, Stolarcyzk and Okoli are injured...

Begovic

Choudhury Faes Vestergaard Ricardo

Winks James

Fatawu Reid Mavididi

???

Take your pick from the strikers. They're all dog shit. One will play for 60 minutes and do nothing and another will come off the bench and do nothing.

Not sure I actually want to get promoted with this squad. We would get humiliated every week in the Premier League.

Much like last year with a 25 point total

Sunderland's starting 11 against Arsenal at the weekend included nine players they signed in the summer after getting promoted. That's the only way we could do it.

Yep it's literally the only route to success.

I could see us getting away with starting Fatawu, James and maybe Stolarcyzk but we'd have to spend north of £100m to survive.

Midfield general, flying fullbacks, ultra physical centre halves, brute of a striker (that can score goals) and pacey winger all needed.

Not only 100mil. But also 100mil being spent well. That’s the bit that worries me the most.

Absolutely but it's not impossible with good scouting. The right attitude and physicality is most important IMO.

We can't go up and sign a squad full of wimps with shit attitudes again. We need to target players with a point to prove and those who can (and want to) run all day.

Thats it. we spent around 80ish last season and it didn't end well at all.

Absolutely. I don't trust that we'd do it with Rudkin's team and methods.

The club needs an attitude shift and that will only happen when he and Aiyawatt go.

See 2016 not the only route James is valued at 5m for instnace if we can bring a couple in Jan in the mold of James we would be starting to build

Would be very on brand for us to lose this and then sack him - that would make it 4 managers in 6 who got sacked just after an international break.

This will be when the board realises they should have sacked Marti in this window.

I still think we are a way from this.

In reality we are, but in my opinion it’s going to happen. Norwich was a red herring for me, this is the pivotal prt of the season, and for me personally I can’t see Marti improving or working at all. His style of management and football isn’t what this team needs….. we need a Pearson esque manager, someone who runs the “front line” of the club so to speak, akin to Enzo too. Marti doesn’t do that, and eventually he will be dismissed, but when it’s all too late and we will likely be in the shit and on the verge of a relegation battle.

5 wins in 15 is piss poor, and it’s a clear indication Marti isn’t the right fit for this group. We should have been proactive and realised this after the Blackburn game, and should have then started identify, and put the feelers out for potential replacements, potentially had the name in line and sack Marti after the Norwich game regardless….

The decision not to remove him sooner will cost us in my opinion. Which is all it is, my opinion.

With what money? Half our squad are out of contract this summer (thank god, bye Vestergaard), but the club is broke and doesn't have the systems in place to put together a Premier League squad on the cheap (free)...

BDCR first name on the team sheet.

Things are bad guys.

With that statement alone .... things are far worse than bad

The club strategy of waiting for us to sink low enough so that all of Brendan's and Cooper's signings are valuable is finally paying off :scarf:
