The sides looking to get automatic promotion will be getting 2 points per game. As we're 8 points off 2nd already with a point deduction on the way I think we'll need to be aiming for ~30 points from that lot to think put our selves in the automatic promotion hunt. Not sure I actually want to get promoted with this squad. We would get humiliated every week in the Premier League. 5
AKCJ Posted 11 November 2025 Posted 11 November 2025 Assuming Nelson, Stolarcyzk and Okoli are injured... Begovic Choudhury Faes Vestergaard Ricardo Winks James Fatawu Reid Mavididi ??? Take your pick from the strikers. They're all dog shit. One will play for 60 minutes and do nothing and another will come off the bench and do nothing. 2 1 1 1
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 11 November 2025 Posted 11 November 2025 Postman Pat has to start up front - at least he presses well and we look a slightly better team with his energy etc shame he can't hit a barn door from 2 metres out 2

I could see us getting away with starting Fatawu, James and maybe Stolarcyzk but we'd have to spend north of £100m to survive. Midfield general, flying fullbacks, ultra physical centre halves, brute of a striker (that can score goals) and pacey winger all needed. 1

That’s the bit that worries me the most. 7

Absolutely but it's not impossible with good scouting. The right attitude and physicality is most important IMO. We can't go up and sign a squad full of wimps with shit attitudes again. We need to target players with a point to prove and those who can (and want to) run all day.

I don't trust that we'd do it with Rudkin's team and methods. The club needs an attitude shift and that will only happen when he and Aiyawatt go. 1

Pliskin Posted 11 November 2025 Posted 11 November 2025 This will be when the board realises they should have sacked Marti in this window.
Dan Posted 11 November 2025 Posted 11 November 2025 Would be very on brand for us to lose this and then sack him - that would make it 4 managers in 6 who got sacked just after an international break. 1

Pliskin Posted 11 November 2025 Posted 11 November 2025 11 minutes ago, Chelmofox said: I still think we are a way from this. In reality we are, but in my opinion it’s going to happen. Norwich was a red herring for me, this is the pivotal prt of the season, and for me personally I can’t see Marti improving or working at all. His style of management and football isn’t what this team needs….. we need a Pearson esque manager, someone who runs the “front line” of the club so to speak, akin to Enzo too. Marti doesn’t do that, and eventually he will be dismissed, but when it’s all too late and we will likely be in the shit and on the verge of a relegation battle. 5 wins in 15 is piss poor, and it’s a clear indication Marti isn’t the right fit for this group. We should have been proactive and realised this after the Blackburn game, and should have then started identify, and put the feelers out for potential replacements, potentially had the name in line and sack Marti after the Norwich game regardless…. The decision not to remove him sooner will cost us in my opinion. Which is all it is, my opinion.

Half our squad are out of contract this summer (thank god, bye Vestergaard), but the club is broke and doesn't have the systems in place to put together a Premier League squad on the cheap (free)... 1
