Honestly we shouldn’t hire any former players. The situation we are in we got to have a guy who can bring us back up. Can’t risk anything anymore.

Spot On,

I like Fuchs as a person and as a player.

However, League One truly is an horrendous place to be playing football, and taking in consideration our current circumstances one we need to escape ASAP or our existence is actually in danger.

Fuchs is way too inexperienced at the moment, especially for the dog fight I'm expecting next season,  we need someone who has been there, got the T-Shirt, wrote the book at this level, and had some tangible success at it.

Whoever it is won't be glamorous, or a big name, and they don't have to be.

We don't need someone who can give a post match media speech worthy of a BAFTA,  we need someone no nonsense, with an idea of how to play league one and hopefully championship football, because they have done it, it's their bread and butter.

We just need to be as a team league one competent, with an identity that isn't a Clone of Man City (as we don't have the players or resources) but with a playing style that fits our current set of player's, be that senior and realistic youth options and that any our meager transfer budget can stretch too, but most importantly that plays to their strengths if possible, not an unrealistic style/philosophy.

It's easier to get players who work hard, have a better than average skill set of passing, ball control etc. for our current standing, than trying to find expense, technically gifted players needed to play a Pep/Enzoball.

We need proven experience here, not an eloquent showman, or a big name, or an untested manager from Scandinavia, we need someone with actual hit the ground running knowledge...

Loved the fact he played the whole match yesterday and scored the winning penalty.

Who knows, maybe a future Leicester manager but not now

LCFC seem quite proud of him

Rolling back the years 🎩

May be an image of American football, football and text that says "b BC.GAME GAME SAIG SAIO THE VICHAT GH S DUNDATIO 五Oエト APRASHA POMER Bc BC.GAME Cha EC"

I'm fairly sure he didn't play the whole 90 was subbed and then replaced Sean St Ledger for the last few minutes.

Still great to see him.

Ah right. Didn't watch it all. Knew he started and saw the penalties so assumed he was on for 90.

this is exactly why they will get Fuchs.

Frankly, if the alternative is employing another Enzo/Pep-ball fanatic who is obsessed with passing around the back and buying a squad of players who fit that brief, probably at exorbitant cost & wages, then I think actually I would rather we just take a gamble on Christian Fuchs. League One is not the place for this bullshit. Much more important we get a motivator and someone who can reset standards at the club IMO, Fuchs appears to have done that in spades at Newport.

A chance for him to grow and develop with us from our rock bottom position

All of the reasons here why City shouldn’t hire Fuchs and should hire an “experienced” manager are cliches.

Michael Skubala and Brian Barry-Murphy didn’t exactly have CVs with a ton of accomplishments as first team managers before they took their respective current jobs and look where they took their clubs last season.

Ruud van Nistelrooy and Gary Rowett have much different backgrounds and both of them were equally unsuccessful here.

The problem with Fuchs is that I think had he gone and got that experience at a top end club in league 2, we could actually look and see what he could build.

he’s done very well for a club scrapping but that doesn’t give us much foresight to how he could build a club that needs to win a league.

it shows he can get player buy in and has some tactical astuteness but we wouldn’t have much of an idea on how he could build our team.

We also had no idea how Nigel Pearson would build a team when he first came along as his only experience was scrapping and/or being an interim manager firefighter.

There are a lot of other factors at play in City’s current decision for sure (this new manager might not have as much leeway from the board to bring in his own Steve Walsh, for example) but success and failure come in many shapes, forms, and CV templates.
