Even though he has been playing well himself we have seen with our own players what can happen when you are losing every week and part of a proper crap side

League One would've been better but being at Chesterfield will still be more beneficial to him than staying at Newport

It's a little disappointing that he's not gone up a division, but he will have to show something different for a team hoping to at least finish in a playoff spot.

What's positive is that he's gone straight into the starting 11, and that's probably a contributing factor to him not going to a league 1 side.  Maybe nobody else could give guarantees on playing time.

What a waste of time. He's playing major catch-up and almost certainly would have been an important player for us (if he could handle the physicality) if not for injuries. To have him at 22 never having played higher than L2 is tragic.

What if things don't go well for him at Chesterfield? Will be viewed as a League 2 player at best when he could be much better than that, as the environment is key to a good loan spell.

Would the environment here be better though?

And if he doesn't do well at Chesterfield, then like it or not there may be a reason to ask questions about his level.

Fact is he pissed it for a shit team, he should be able to establish himself at least for a side that can chase down automatics.  And the fact they're doing that, and that he can be a key part in that if he impresses has got to be a better environment than staying here with the uncertainty around us.

Good luck to him. The main thing is he starts regularly because you would hope to see the likes of him within our first team in a few years, especially when we’re obviously going to be in the Championship for the foreseeable.

Are we that strapped for cash that a loan fee from Chesterfield has had an impact here?

I doubt this has anything to do with it. Surely this is about his development and fees at this level are a drop in the ocean compared to some 1st team players salaries.

Feels especially bizarre given we also screw Fuchs with this decision.

Fuchs isn't employed by our club so shouldn't factor into any decision. Of course the worst team in L2 would want to keep him, he was frequently rated their best player. As nice as that sounds, our academy boy shouldn't be rated their best player every week.

The only way it can make sense is a) we need all and any cash we can get our hands on (desperation) or b) he’s going to train with us a couple of days a week in preparation for being integrated into the first team next season

In circumstances like this you've got to trust everyone behind the scenes. The goal surely is for him to keep playing regularly and developing. Maybe they tried L1 but there were no guarantees, so likely the thinking was that a team pushing for promotion is now better experience.

He won’t be at Newport after Jan 1st

How many goals or assists has he had whilst out on loan ?

Agent led

They have more power than fans realise

No League One side the agent could have got him? Would have been better off staying with us as our midfield options are beyond horrible.

Hopefully Golding and Briggs get loaned to Newport this month.

I think this could be more sensible than others think, especially if he continues his form and pushes them towards promotion. Will do wonders for his confidence and development. Depending on his impact could either get a league one loan start of next season or start for us, but either way he will still only be 22 (which given the injury is still young) and if he ends up starting for us I would say we've actually been quite sensible with his development. I think sometimes being conservative can be good for a player's development.

Also he may have had some say in where he goes and we may not have had interested suitors in league one.

Haha no I didnt, but from what I read he experienced very similar lol

When he has had the ball he's looked good. Picked the right pass everytime and looks like he has bags of time.

Once they begin to trust him more I assume he will see more of the ball

Seems odd going from a league 2 side to another league 2 side. Would've preferred a league 1 move

A mate of mine who's a Chesterfield fan, says they were able to offer him pretty much a regular start (in fact he's playing right now). I guess League 1 clubs (where I thought he might go), couldn't offer that.

4 subs made and got themselves back in the game, with Sammy still on. Good to see they've not took the loanees out (one of whom scored) to get back into it.

Nice to see him playing with a side that can actually keep the ball.
