With what Russell said yesterday regarding one or two transfers, I’d be quite annoyed if a striker and right-winger don’t come in before Genoa, those are the two pieces that clearly need strengthening atm. I’m content regarding LW, as Alves gives you some versatility.

Honestly so so annoyed of the activity for incomings.

done so well in getting rid of deadwood/ big earners.

we need so badly a ST and RW I can’t believe we haven’t got any in hopefully like what Martin said is need the right character etc but time is ticking.

I just want Ballard 😂 ain’t happening I know.

After Martin’s comments about different profiles for each role and on the assumption there’s no money to spend I would be looking at the following

Right wing - Tudor Mendel-Idowu (Loan) - Different to Alves who prefers to play more inverted, Mendel-Idowu prefers to stay out wide and take his man on every opportunity he gets.

Striker - Ross Stewart (Free agent) - Gives you a completely different option more of a target man and someone you can play crosses into should playing through an opposition not be working.

Striker - Shumaira Mhueka (Loan) - Great option as a deep lying forward. Very comfortable linking up play, serious pace about him and he has a serious eye for goal.

Left wing - Ben Broggio (Loan) - Very similar profile to Alves, prefers to play more inverted as a left sided attacking midfielder. Completely different profile to Mavididi. I found this the hardest position to find based of profile and money available.

Most of the change will hopefully come after departures, especially when it comes to CB, it’s just the striker situation that is becoming a prolonged annoyance.

I just want a first choice striker who has shown they can score goals at this level, or someone who scored a decent amount in Europe last season. I’m content that we’re probably fishing in a different pond to the likes of Ballard, but I do have my concerns that we’ll end up with someone very underwhelming, like Dykes or Mandron.

In terms of RW, nobody was ever coming in until Fatawu left, but now that’s happened, I hope to see some movement in that position this week, even if it’s just someone on loan. Then Jake Evans and Riley Carr imo should alternate as backup.

The manager must be well aware of Ballard from his time at Southampton. The question is at what point will the club actually buy a young striker like this with resale value or are only free transfers on the agenda whatever happens with sales. He isn't a target man but is proven at this level. I was quite amused listening to Martin about the level of detailed profiling that is involved before signing a player I think maybe cost is number one unfortunately.

said it last summer, but it wouldnt shock me if we get linked with the likes of Dane Scarlett again

year left on his deal at Spurs

even Rak-Sakyi too

Dane Scarlett is vile, Rak Sakyi talented but despised by Stoke fans for his lack of effort.

Keep both far away from the club.

I agree, the striker situation is my biggest worry and annoyance at the moment, such an important, vacant position, probably going to end up asking Ochere to net 30 goals this season

And actually, the reality is we probably need to sign 2 strikers

In terms of what I think we still need 🤔.... If this was any other club I would say we still need to sign 8 or 9 players.

Where we are at the moment, I would say we really need 6 players. Centre Back, Right Back, Central Midfield, Right Wing and 2 Strikers.

But my confidence in the recruitment side of things at the club is low. My gut is telling me at the moment not to expect any further transfers coming in because if there was, they'd surely have done it by now

That's just my opinion, call me bonkers, but it's my opinion haha

I absolutely wouldn’t say we need a right back. We have Aluko, Joseph and Coulibaly. Left back would be the more pressing of the full back sides in my view.

I doubt we would think about a LB, both Coulibaly and Aluko can play there.

We do need more signings but its quality over quantity for me. We clearly need a striker and most likely one or 2 centre backs if our current ones leave. We dont want to get squad fillers who would take bench places of our exciting youth lads, anyone we sign needs to be straight for the starting 11.

Soutter and Nelson should be our CBs for next season. Okoli and faes out.

Difficulty is finding anyone that wants Okoli and Faes. More likely to have interest in Nelson and Souttar and we also don't want Nelson leaving for free next summer.

Souttar wants out. If you dont want to be here, then go.

Perhaps not, although my point was more about if you were looking at full back at all, it’d be left not tight. Right back and the central attacking midfield positions are the 2 most well covered I would say.

That said, whilst they can play left back, they are not natural left sided players. Maybe it’s just me, but I really don’t like seeing right football full backs on the left. Some like Justin do a very good job but he was comfortable with both feet if I remember rightly (as he was moved to the right for many years so it’s a while ago he played on the left). But generally, it just looked awkward and unnatural.

I agree, left footers are much better suited, but purely just down to prioritisation of fund I can't see us bring in a fullback.

can't muster 5mil for league one top scorer but happily dropped 25mil on oliver skipp not long ago sigh

Agree and look how much wages City paid for loan signings Lascelles Aribo must be close to 5ml combined, no resale value etc. How Leicester are promotion favourites with no proven strikers and the best young wingers sold I don’t know

Agreed, I was more just surprised the posted I had quoted had mentioned right back.

It looks like we won’t bring many anyway. And if Luke Thomas can’t do the job at L1 level, in all respect, he probably needs to hang up his boots. I defended him a lot in the past as I thought his development in his youngest day from the clubs side was awful. But if he hasn’t already passed it, this season is his last ditch opportunity.

Otherwise, I think people are being hopeful with 2 strikers but we definitely need one. But it will be more a Ross Stewart on a free as the idea of paying whatever Orient are demanding for Ballard is not happening. And a winger for the right side.

Centre back actually concerns me most as all 4 of the senior ones in that position could well go.

Just been looking at Dom Ballards highlights. He's got the lot. Quality balls in to him all the time and he finishes them all, left foot, right foot, head. Him and a target man would change the season.

Ballard signs we win the league. But he won’t we are skint loans and frees by the looks of it.
