Okay.

We are still manager less and look about as ruder-less as a ship without a captain.

2nd worst defence in the league, but we have scored more around us, largely thanks to Fatawu, Reid and James.

We are in effect, 3 points adrift of safety though, as Portsmouth have a few games in hand.

We can get ourselves out of this mess but we need to stop actually conceding goals.

I think we’ll need to the 50 mark to be safe, albeit with how bad Sheffield Wednesday are and the teams around us are still to play them, then it’s  maybe going to be 52ish.

We are currently on 32 points with 14 games to go, so we need to find 18 points. Thats an average of 1.28 points per game (PPG). Our current for is 0.2 PPG, so we have work to do.

The teams around us in the mix for relegation are likely Sheffield Wednesday, Oxford, Portsmouth, West Brom, Blackburn, Charlton and maybe Norwich. I think we were in this conversation as well, even before the points deduction.

Looking at the teams we have left, the remaining fixtures are :

Stoke - A

Middlesborough - A

Norwich - H

Ipswich - A

Bristol - H

QPR - H

Watford - A

Preston - H

Sheffield W - A

Swansea - H

Portsmouth - A

Hull - H

Millwall - H

Blackburn - A

Where are we getting those 18 points then?

Genuinely can’t see us getting a point. Defeat has just become a formality.

Yep, the players are beaten before they take the pitch. They even flipped out at 3-0 up and couldn’t keep their heads. Most clubs/squads would use the points deduction and the Southampton game as a catalyst for a siege mentality but I just can’t see it with this lot.

Games like the Southampton one do happen from time to time. It happens to other clubs. In isolation, you could put it down to a freak game where everything went wrong. The issue is that with us, it didn’t seem like a freak result or how it came about rather. People were expecting it. That’s damning for a group of professional (term used loosely for some of them) footballers. Where is the pride?

Well if we do go down, I hope it's by more than six points so no-one at the club can use the points deduction as an excuse.

I don't want to hear 'we would have stayed up if it wasn't for the deduction'

Relegation to League One for this club does not come with any excuses. It will happen through sheer incompetence and neglect, on and off the pitch.

There's still a part of me that thinks we'll stay up but I admit it's looking more and more unlikely each week.

If dropping into the relegation zone doesn't give everyone the kick up the arse they need to sort themselves out and get out of this mess, then we are indeed screwed.

18 points? That’s 6 wins. I can’t see us getting 6 points from now until the find if the season, never mind 6 wins. I just can’t see it, we’re finishing 2nd or 3rd bottom.

This is my attempt at positivity.

IF, we get a manager in NOW and we play like we did in the 1st half last Tuesday we win 8 of these. The list is favourable and on paper looking at our squad we should have enough.

However, if neither of those things happen we pick up a maximum of 10 points.

The issues we have is that no-one wants to manage us and our players can’t put in a 90 min performance. The next couple of days are vital, if nothing is done in time for Stoke it’s not going to be.

I have had a similar thought regarding relegated by more or less than 6 points. I expect the most likely scenario is relegation by less than 6. I can’t see us staying up but more than 6 is a way to fall behind.

Technically it is true I suppose. In that yeah, if we didn’t have the deduction we’d have stayed up in that case. But what a simplistic argument that would be for those with nowhere else to turn.

The obviously thing is why have we had a deduction. Over 100% wages to turnover and the stupid losses we racked up. Stupid, reckless and deserving of punishment.

But also you look at how it has been handled and the timing. The clubs refusal to take accountability, not engage with the authorities and kick the can down the road means we have finally had this punishment this season. At a point where we have cripples ourselves with our squad building and become weaker year on year. It would have been smarter to take it on the chin originally and taken the punishment when we were in the PL or even a strong Championship team no?

And then jump to this season. Highest wage bill in the league. I know we are full aware that is not reflected in the ability of the squad but if this squad did the basics, and we had an actual manager in place from the start, the floor for this squad would be higher than within 6 points of the relegation zone for it to be a problem anyway.

So anybody uses that as an excuse, they can get in the bin. Yes, it’s factually but it doesn’t deserve a mention as it indicates being hard done by which we aren’t.

It's starting to look like any 2 from Oxford, Leicester, WBA and Portsmouth. Blackburn are picking up points and pulling away.

Oxford are poor but their players are giving 100% so anything can happen. Portsmouth have 2 games in hand. WBA are also poor but they have a couple of points over you and have Oxford to come.

Yeah we get it, we’re done!

I think it stays at is now. Oxford are giving 100% but I don’t see them having the quality to get enough points to overhaul Blackburn, Portsmouth and Brom. We have nothing and are showing nothing. We are nailed on.

if you go with it "just" being 6 wins that give you safety, i struggle to see more than 2 wins on that list, so that would need 12 draws needed on my expectations.

So technically if we lost on Saturday, I have us all but relegated 🤣

Worryingly! I also saw it this way.

We're basically reliant on this run of games

I’d say that Norwich game at home is massive as well.

I can’t see us taking anything from Ipswich, Middlesborough, Stoke, Millwall or Hull.

Thinking of the tabloid headlines when the inevitable happens:

“2016: KING CROWNED: 2026: KING DECAPITATED”

”FROM TOP TO BOTTOM”

”LEICESTER IN A FOXHOLE”

Yeah I was more looking at a consistent run of games where we could get something

Let’s be real, every game is massive from here on in. We ****ed about with the Charlton and Oxford games and now this is what we’re faced with. We just don’t have it in us to fight our way out of it.

I looked at that fixture list and thought “a fair few of these are winnable”

Then I remembered that I’ve watched us recently and we’re doggo and absolutely going down.
