Second half much better.

We deserved to win that, no doubt.

We don’t know how to get a game over the line

Basically every big moment at either end of the pitch we choke.

That's not going to get sorted over night, Rowett will get into them unlikely Marti or King.

Mukasa and James will tear teams apart

Chuck Fatawu into that.

Lasscelles to make us better at the back.

People seem to forget we are without those 3 plus Vestergaard and Souttar.

New manager bounce ain’t going to be very high, is it?  More of a half-hearted flop.

Yes we showed more fight 2nd half. Would have been difficult not to show some improvement over the 1st.

Finishing was dreadful. Defending worse.

Not sure I’m that enthused to be honest. My enthusiasm mirrors our players.

To be fair we were better in the 2nd half
But also in the first 60 minutes we should have 5-0 down and not 1-1
And we the time we did improve, I don’t think anyone cared
Oh and then Winks scored a streamer
Mavididi misses a sitter
We all get interested and then
We just don’t defend do we

Chance to win it in the 96th minute and there keeper saves and we all wait around
Before hitting the woodwork twice

Simple question is why again do we not play for 90 minutes!

And after 96 minutes it should have been 3-6

Would have taken a point when we were Doggo in the first half. Now gutted we didn’t win.

Wasn’t expecting us to all of a sudden be, you know, any good, but there seems to be some fight and something to build on.

Players looked distraught at the end. Good. About time they cared more. Can see us beating Norwich next weekend.

Excruciating not to win it at the end. But 2nd half and some really good positives to take forward. Boro a free hit then a must win v Norwich

We can't afford free hits. Surrendered them by losing to Oxford and Charlton.

Dumbfounded people are positive about this performance. Poor stoke side, this is the game we need to win not bottle, look at who we have coming up

Boro

Norwich

Ipswitch

meanwhile West Brom...

Charlton

Oxford

Sheff Utd (admittedly hard)

we could be adrift in 2 games times

Fair point. I think it's just that, for the first time in an age, we've seen the tiniest glimmer of hope. I suppose there's a small chance now, where there wasn't before, that we don't bomb in those three fixtures. If we're a point or two adrift, or better, after those three matches we'll have a good shot at survival, and that doesn't look as utterly unrealistic as it did at half time.

We’ve got attacking players who can hurt any team in this league but the defending is abysmal

That’s Rowett’s big job. Plugging such a leaky defence

Vesty and Lascalles as the CB pair would help, but who knows if that will ever happen.

I mean West Brom even managed to lose to us under Marti fraud so it’s far from a given the get anything

Thomas getting pelters again. But I want to balance it a bit as I thought he did fine in our build up play. The sequence that ends with Mavididi having a one on one (though offside) is sparked by Thomas playing inside to Skipp crisply instead of down the line which Nelson instructed him to. It put Stoke on the back foot.

Then he also combined well with Mav to set up a chance at 2-1, which Mav scuffed.

Not to mention the chance at the end which almost went in.

Defending apart, he was much better than Ricardo which feels wild saying out loud.

Better second half but what an advert for Championship Football 😂😂 go to your local park tomorrow and watch pot bellied blokes control and pass a ball better than either of these sides today.

James and Ramsey should be pretty close. If you have those two plus Fatawu back I don't see how you justify one of our horrendous strikers in the starting eleven. Find a formation to fit three of those and possibly all four.
