He will leave on loan to a championship club at least, and we couldn’t keep him because of his wages.

Just have to come to some agreement with him regarding a years worth of money. Turned down a new deal with Fulham, someone said he got a wage rise coming here, how generous we are with contracts he’s probably on about £50k a week

Yeah maybe. Was just making the point there’s one less consideration given we don’t need to cover amortisation.

At 33 he almost certainly would be looking for a last deal but no doubt the one he is on currently is far too good.

He might get a deal somewhere at say £10k a week so circa £1 million in total gross over 2 years  but for one of the two years he would still be under contract at LC.

Let’s  assume that he is on say £40k a week and 26 /27 is  indeed the last year. Well it’s worth to him is greater than 52 weeks because as it the  last year there would be several weeks paid after the contract ends so worth  say £2.2 m to him way in excess of  the £1m that would be payable in 26/27&27/8 combined.

My point is that he holds all the cards going into the last year . If I were his agent I would be looking for between 60&75% of the remaining sum maybe settling on 60-50% ish. Yes there would be savings to the club but as with many things LC there would have to be funds available to save . Also timing would be a thing . Is there enough capacity in the 25/6 PSR numbers to advance his costs ? If not what would the numbers look like if a replacement player is bought in?

As for amortisation even when someone is signed on a free there will be agent fees etc and these costs are amortised over the contract period. To negotiate a settlement will cost agent fees and almost certainly LC would be liable for those costs and if the deal was indeed done  in 26/27 not only would those fees be factored in but also fees from the original contract would have to be  impaired in 25/26 .

Its an incredibly complex set of calculations that will need to be carried out but at his age and the fact that he is indeed 33 I would be advising him, if I were his agent, just sit on your contract .

I think he means league 1 to league 2 which, if we're in administration without a squad, is very likely.

I watch Harborough Town most weeks and in all honesty we would struggle to beat them even now.

The cloth cutting will be huge, or at least it should be. Could/should be near 20 departures if it actually happens. It'll be a team of kids but not the ones we're used to seeing I feel.

Might actually see Hamza and Thomas out the door simply because it's pure profit.

Really can't see a lot of players staying with us. A) Because I'm sure they will have a relegation clause in there contract that they will be able to leave for a certain fee, B) another clause in there contract to say if we get relegated there wages will be deducted by a certain percentage, meaning they won't want to be here on said wages, C) we will need to sell to make sure we can balance the books.

It's a worrying time as there are a lot of players on high wages that even if they have a percentage deducted, they would be the highest League 1 paid players (Winks), and in reality wouldn't want to move as he would not get anywhere near the wage we are giving him and League 1 football would be doddle for him.

Pretty sure Vietes will leave in the summer. Can't imagine he's having a fun time, can't be on big wages. I'd expect him to move back to Spain in the summer.

Far too many players who shouldn't be - because it will be the same people in place as usual, who are hopeless at moving players on.

Thomas and Choudhury will still be starting games for us.

They will be club captain and vice captain .

Vietes is on £5k more a week than Fatawu, Mavididi and Jordan James and he has another year left on his contract. He’s on £15k a week btw.

There's absolutely no chance Fatawu and Mavididi are only on £10k.

I hope Capology have that wrong. Surely he's not gone from earning under 3k a week to 15k a week with us? lol

We pay Vietes, our 3rd choice goalkeeper and someone the majority of our own fans wouldn't even recognise walking down the street, 3x the amount Coventry pay their 1st choice goalkeeper..

That's before you bring in our clean sheet record.

I've chewed this one over and the bottom line is that I don't want to be paying approximately £30 a game to watch players like Thomas, Okoli, BDCR and Chaudhury and us playing in a way that sees us have two or three meaningful shots a game whilst unable to even perform the basic tasks of defending.  It feels like getting a ST next season would be condoning the gross negligence of those running the club and how they have destroyed our opportunity to realistically compete in the PL for years to come.

It will be interesting to see how many ST holders there are next season. I'm guessing about 13,000
