When asked about changing formation playing 2 up top etc, he didn’t feel it was time to make drastic changes yet. I disagree these opposition teams are so ropey at the back you can’t afford to let them get comfortable by offering jack shit going forward.

I believe we've got to do something, mavdidi is out of form and Fatawu doesn't look on it either. If we went 3-5-2 I'd assume it look something this:

                             Jakub

            Okoli       Vesty     Nelson

Fatawu                Skipp               Thomas

                   JJ               BDCR

                          Ayew    Daka

You could play Mukasa in the SS role similar to Ayew and put either Richards or Mavdidi upfront for Daka.

I'm pretty sure it will be something like this:

                          Jakub

Ricardo    Lascelles   Nelson   Thomas

                   Skipp    Winks

   Fatawu        James       Mavididi

                         Daka

Can’t see pretty much anything but this, only things could be Ayew for Daka and Winks for Mukasa(as a pair of changes) or Choudhury for Ricky P

Actually think this is our best eleven…..

That’s my guess at what Rowett will do. Notice there’s no one younger than Fatawu in that team, that shows the play the youngsters game plan is out the window with the current desperate situation we’re in.

From the bench we have Bobby, Mukasa or Aribo  possibly who could impact. I hope Ayew isn’t even being considered as an option.

Not at all confident to be honest.

Just giving my view. Stand by the fact that we don't have 1 good CB so very unsure about wasting an extra place in the team by shoehorning 3 of them in. Also, in a 352 you will end up having to play one of our few good players, Fatawu, out of position to make the formation work. And are you proposing to play both Daka and Ayew up top as they are the only 2 'strikers' we have? If not, we're again having to play someone else out of position. Genuinely interested to know what your XI would be in a 352 formation, as I'm struggling to think of a viable selection, given the players we have available.

Any line up anyone gives looks horrible. If we had been playing 3-5-2, and losing every week, the 4-3-2-1 line ups would look horrible and be disregarded.

My core issues at the moment:

  • Mavididi is working hard, but has no output. Monga (although no longer really in contention), hasn't had any output since earlier in the season.
  • Fatawu is 'easier' to defender against with physical well drilled defenses. QPR always doubled up on him without fail, and matched him for physicality. He gets snuffed out and then gets frustrated leading to him mistakes.
  • We get overrun in midfield. Teams seem to have the full run of the pitch sometimes, because we dont have the bodies there.
  • Teams counter as with ease, largely because we have no one who can win the ball high up the pitch and they seem to have the whole midfield to counter in.
  • We arent inverting like we used to, but Riccy does still drift and leaves us very exposed. Our formation and tactics (continued desire to play out of the back) puts huge pressure on the defence and keeper.
  • We either play slow, wandering bozo 1, or fast but no skill bozo 2 up front.  Its not worked all season.

There are times where i think our front 3 are the worst in the Championship, and we have no midfield. I cannot believe another system is worse than this.

By the way, i am resigned to the fact Rowett wont change the system.

He said he is opting for experience, to try and cut out the mistakes

If we cut out mistakes then we get rid of Ayew and Okoli right?

                          Anyone but Jakub

Ricki    Vesty     Nelson     Aluko (not Thomas)

                           Skipp    JJ

Abdul                Mukasa            Monga

Richards (He can't be any worse)

And Bobby, Fatawu and Mavadidi.

All these guys can make all the mistakes they like because they have experience.

💯 but what we want and what Rowett will pick are two different things

But experience has got us into trouble we are in

Nelson has to be dropped in my opinion, he’s costing us goals week in week out. The odd half decent performance in amongst mostly dreadful ones.

I just don’t think he’s actually any good.

It's better and will certainly adhere to international law that we have to play 4231.

But it lacks the inevitable BdcR. He'll be playing as certain as night follows day.

Personally, I've banged on and on that we desperately need to show some physicality. Even at the expense of ability.

I'd have Okoli at RB, Vesty at central half and Nelson as a sort of left back.

I'd have a basic AF midfield, Hamza right, JJ and winks and Skipp on the left.

And I'd go long, and play Stephy and Daka up front as a pair.

I'd prefer us to at least go down trying something different rather than the Chinese water torture of 4231

This has been the single biggest, consistent, most obvious problem for the last 2 years to me.

Teams look like they've got extra players on the pitch. We just lose the middle of the park every single game.

Teams can double up on Fatawu and still have more players in midfield.

Yet, we cant change the formation.

Nelson sort of left back in leicester would be best

Lascelles has to start playing. Need some leadership at the back rather than the chaos we have currently. What was the point signing him to become another coady style bench warmer.

Also think a false 9 upfront would be better than the clogs we have in the squad.
