The goals conceded differential between before he was at Swansea and when he was there is absolutely wild and is some of the most damning evidence to how risky his football is.

 

2020/21 - the season before Brussell arrived they conceded 39 goals.

 

2021/22 and 2022/23 conceded 68 and 64 goals which is some of the worst in the entire league and on par with teams who just survived or even got relegated.

 

He took over from Steve Cooper who is extremely defensive but despite conceding 29 more goals they scored exactly the same amount that next year, which is astonishing.

 

At best a Russell Martin's team just does enough to out score the opposition but at it's worst the unneccessarry mistakes from over playing in dangerous areas see's the goals against rack up and stink of a team who doesn't know how to win.

 

We really cannot afford to get this wrong this season, last saturday has to be a rare blip and he quickly fixes this but evidence suggests it will have to be the players that must be fast on the learning process vs a manager who will adapt to benefit the club in the short term.

His teams consistently concede 1.5 goals a game - in every job at every club. He barely discusses the defence except in terms of individual errors...very Brendan..

Yet we've told that once Russell gets his own players, things will get better. I bet at every club he's been, fans are blaming the defenders, yet the common denominator is him.

Improved by a massive 4 goals in his 2nd season at Swansea and despite only being 3 points off the playoffs they conceded only 1 less than the team who finished bottom of the league 😂😂😂

Southampton the season after, only 1 less conceded at 63 and despite finishing 4th and winning the play-offs they conceded only 2 less than Birmingham who went down.

 

His football is simply not compatible with being successful long term.

Cherry picking stats are a little unfair.

 

Longest unbeaten run.

Joint 3nd fewest loses with us.

3rd highest scorers.

4th most wins

I'm not cherry picking at all, i'm focusing solely on the defensive record at his previous clubs. It shows a pattern that shines an uncomfortable light on his philosophy and it's vulnerability in keeping the ball out of the net.

 

There is not a stat you'll be able to find that detracts from that.

Plus how long can the club survive as a league one club?

The wages might reduced, but that’s only part of the problem.

Same, i'll almost tolerate it if we see an uptick in results like he got with Southampton but that's not guaranteed is it. We are on a knife edge this season more so than ever. Can we afford to wait 15 games, i'm convinced if we don't go up we are done for. Liquidation.

Even if we go into administration, someone buys us on the cheap.

 

You need to relax a bit, its not worth the mental stress.
