FoxinNotts Posted 9 August Posted 9 August 1 minute ago, honeybradger said: That is because the club has increasingly shifted him to the sidelines over the course of this summer. Really he should have been one of our key players like the rest of them. Fair enough. It is a balancing act tho. I guess what I'm saying is, it's inevitable that a couple from this crop would go, and I'm happy to be keeping the ones we seem to be keeping 1
boosmanana Posted 9 August Posted 9 August Part of the food chain unfortunately. He'd have gone to Man Utd or Arsenal regardless of which division we were in as they're much much bigger clubs and he'll earn much much more money. Unfortunately, we'll now get much less than we would have got had we been in the Premier League.
LCFCJohn Posted 9 August Posted 9 August Disappointing but as others have said, there is no level we can be at that we can fight off advances from Man Utd for our players. That said, we could get more for them aka Maguire if we were competently run. It wouldn’t make a difference to keeping him but we haven’t exactly played him much given the context. One side of the coin is that yeah, he’s had good senior minutes for his age. Flip the coin and ask who the senior players that were keeping him out did so deservedly and I think we’d all be struggling to name them…
teblin Posted 9 August Posted 9 August I'm sorry this sucks, and those saying it's the point of the academy. Maybe now because we have been so bloody mismanaged. These young lads should be the hope and the future of our team not someone else's unless they aren't good enough, or they have hit such heights they are off to actually play for the team they are moving too. Those saying, it is the point of the academy are letting the people running the club off lightly. We'll sell him and use his fee to pay the wages of skipp, feas, okoli and sign Sam morsby as his replacement. Just going to pay off debts not build!!! 3 1

We are the pits at the minute and people need to accept that. This feels like the nail for me, it really has angered me. I know it's always happened but doesn't mean you can't be cross about it
Jattdogg Posted 9 August Posted 9 August 1 hour ago, honeybradger said: Sideways move but gets sold to a lower EPL team in two season It's unlikey we will be there so it's hardly sideways. Ya because he likely won't get into the utd first team and will be playing at the same level as where we are now (u21s or maybe a loan to a lower league). I agree we wont be in the EPL in 2 seasons. Perhaps the higher weekly wage is the goal for him but far too often kids go off to big clubs, rot and careers go sideways. I think he would be better suited for a championship club but that's not how it works when people are dropping cash lol. We basically have to take the cash but I just hope we dont waste it on older players. We need to replenish our younger players. Poach from other clubs time lol. 1 hour ago, Jobyfox said: He’s not going to get into Manchester United’s team for some time - if ever. A sensible approach would be to sell and agree a loan back for this season That would be the best idea provided we agree to actually play him!

Just look at how Chelsea offload lots of players at pure profit, many names you never really hear of again. Wait until we know the proposed fee. If its a few million then its a disgrace. But if its Monga money, then thats very handy for us. 3

What's the point in staying when you're gonna be on the bench all season. He’ll be a lot closer to the first team here than he’ll be at Man U this season. The current set up with development teams means it’s very easy and relatively cheap for the big 6 to poach everyone else’s best players. It needs to be looked at to ensure teams are adequately compensated for this poaching. It’s difficult when a young lad gets his head turned by a club of that stature. Page obviously backs himself to get in their first team quickly and he’s certainly a talent. Recent history shows though that the majority that go through Man U’s development system don’t actually make it a the club. Hopefully there’s future clauses in the agreement that ensures we don’t get ripped off.
Stadt Posted 9 August Posted 9 August It’s all so f ucking tiresome. If we lose Braybrooke as well this is the closest I’ve felt to just binning watching Leicester off. Watching Skipp and Reid not getting us promoted is just joyless 4
Lambert09 Posted 9 August Posted 9 August It depends what we get for him. 10m is worth not gambling on him progressing. 5m is not… because just one good season and a promotion and you know that value flys up. but as I said before, it doesn’t look like Martin is going to start him, the path will be further blocked when Chaplin is back. I think it’s a bad call long term but it’s just the way it is right now 2
Lambert09 Posted 9 August Posted 9 August What’s going to really sting is he will be getting mentored by youri 🥺
Cropwellfox Posted 9 August Posted 9 August Hopefully can hold onto Braybrooke and get really decent money for Page - seems clear that Martin isn’t up for starting him much given who he’s bought in and so while a vile state of affairs getting in a very decent pure profit figure and a whacking sell on %age helps us. What we need to do now though is invest some of it in up and coming players who we can turn for a profit in future. Ethan Pye at Stockport, Jayden Wareham and Abdul Abdulmalik three obvious ones. 1

His technical ability showed potential but possibly not his decision making. something that would’ve been resolved but who knows. could be loaned back out to us to prove

Even then not convinced.

lgfualol Posted 9 August Posted 9 August This would be a real blow, I know we need the money but jesus
