You've highlighted my point well. Cardiff were in a good spell but still lost to Burton Albion at home (and had been beaten convincingly at home by Bradford City, just over a week before). As I said, I'm not denying we've got problems that need to solved ASAP,  that's obvious, but if we address the immediate on field issues, let's see where we are in a month or so, say.

I admire your optimism but it is hard to see quite how we are going to resolve our on field issues. we have 4 centre halves, one out for the season, the other 3 all want to leave but are not looking likely to go. Two of them, even if they stay, can't play the way the manager wants them to play. We have a left back who can't play that way and a keeper who can't play that way who we have just, for some unknown reason recruited.  The midfield also basically can't play that way if  we keep picking Skipp or Hamza. We also look very lightweight in midfield. We really need a ball winning midfielder who can actually pass the ball. Up front we look even worse. Cullen looks a dead loss.  Burns might be ok and the two loanees also might be good.  It is too early to say with Bristric but I can't say that I'm overwhelmingly confident he will be the answer based on what I've seen so far limited though that is of course. If he were to pick up an injury we basically have no striker. Reid is essentially useless.

If we stick to the current method of playing, we need 3 centre backs to leave and 3 to come in, Another midfielder who can actually receive the ball facing his own goal, another centre forward with some actual pace. All of the new players have to be technically good enough to play this way.  So in the next week I'd say we need to get rid of at least 5 players and bring in 6 or 7 others.  Will this happen?  very unlikely I'd say.

Without this, in a month or so, I fear we will be about where we are now in terms of league position.

Endured a 230 mile round trip for that disgrace yesterday. Hard to see where we go from this, apart from even further into the gutter.

The team/squad is a total mess. In a transfer window when funds are unbelievably tight, some of our business has been totally inexplicable. Signing both Cullen and Chaplin is the equivalent of signing both Ayew and Reid. We didn't need to sign more than one number 10 when we also have the likes of Alves and Page who can play in that position. The alleged £2m on Cullen when we are utterly desperate for CBs and a striker is also totally baffling. Furthermore, we've signed a goalkeeper who is worse than the one we already have - Danny Ward levels of shot stopping combined with being a total bombshell on the ball. Also, why keep playing Thomas when we have loaned a left back from Man City? Have we again managed the near impossible and found another LB who is actually worse than him?

Pretty much the only positive thing about the whole club is the new away kit, which really is top notch.

I've stupidly purchased tickets for MK Dons away next weekend. Already dreading even the thought of that.

Most touches yesterday. This is Russball. Posession is fine, but it needs to be in dangerous areas of the pitch if we're to have a successful season. Teams aren't bothered if our CBs are knocking it to each other, they'll be happy for us to do that all day.

The foundation of his tactics is having players who are really comfortable on the ball. Okoli and Souttar have it more than anyone else and are basically tasked with picking passes into midfield over and over again, and are clearly not capable of doing it. So many times yesterday that one of them would touch the ball 5/10 times desperately searching for a pass, to then just aimlessly clipping it wide and us losing possession.

we usually kick the other way first half

wouldn’t surprise me if it was on automatic and no one thought to change it

That's my point . Not.like someone had 49 minutes to change it

Would have thought he would have learnt from his mistakes at Rangers considering the Scottish premiership is about league 1 standard.

You didnt need to warn us about him. See 18 months ago away at Bournemouth in the premi when we were linked with him and our away support was vociferously calling him a w###ker.

He’s a weapon.

the Leicester faithful will hound this clown shoe out before Halloween at this rate. 18th in league 1 is simply not good enough.

The man cannot set up a defence 😂

I think you underestimate how cucked our fanbase is. This is the same bunch of losers who applauded winks for telling them to **** off just 4 months ago.

Losing Nelson from the back is a hammer blow. Souttar, Okoli and Faes all want out so we are in a really difficult situation. Need somehow to sign 2 CB's who can do a job for us.

Watching the setup yesterday, I’m glad Nelson isn’t playing.  Would totally kill any confidence he had.

Indeed. But I love the day out and quality time with my two boys, so I decided, against my better judgement, to retain our season tickets for another season. Early signs are that was a bad decision and I should have thought of another activity that I could do with them.

Why do you dislike your children? Seriously though, there’s literally tons of kid-friendly stuff to do. Even just going and watching your local team would be infinitely more enjoyable for you all than going to the horribly toxic KP. It’s not too late to cancel your ST’s if you want to.

How's that? (asking for a friend) ;)

This Martin team wont get a consistent set of results or even a result

-whilst playing 2x cbs that dont want to be here and cannot pass a ball. Double disaster.

- playing luke Thomas. Even Maresca sent him on loan immediately and dint want him near his team.

- the list goes on but let’s address the above as a start.

Wrong tactics,  poor management and players who aren't bothered so what could go wrong against a team thats a favourite for relegation.

Burton won?

You can't I've already tried lol

Interesting because I managed to do it towards the end of last season, as did lots of others. I just emailed them and told them I’d like to cancel and wouldn’t be coming back until the current owners were gone.

Did they give reasons for not letting you cancel?

Haha ok, good luck! Make sure you do let them know though and not just cancel the direct debit as they charge you £15 per missed DD and blacklist you if you miss 3 in a season. I’m assuming a lot of us will want to return at some point, so worth keeping ‘onside’ even though it’s a bit galling.

Let us know how you get on.

If I’d known Martin was getting the job at the time I got a season ticket, I wouldn’t have got one. This post is not me defending him. I hated the Enzo football as well, and the football we at times played last week at Notts County, too. However, I didn’t think it was too much tippy tappy passing yesterday (outside of the nonsense going on inside our own box).

Our goal for example was good work down the right, a fast switch of play, great cross in and easy finish. We did try and do that a few times in wide areas, get decent crosses in but there is literally no one in the box to get on the end of them. I didn’t think that’s what he said about Britstic either, I thought he said his game is about power and running but he couldn’t do that anymore because he hasn’t trained enough and was tired.

The club have once again made a total mess of recruitment. We’ve got one striker, two centre halves, neither of whom want to be here plus a load of very similar (albeit good) little players who would thrive with physicality and decent players around them.

I don’t think any Manager good or bad stands a chance here at the moment.

We tried the quick direct play because of desperation,  and a need to get back in the game, its the only time we see glimpses of attacking football, inevitably when we are at least 2 behind.

Last few seasons have been the same

Posted

1st goal - Skipp offers no protection at all to his centre backs - he’s not a single “6” at all - not alert enough at all.

2nd goal - actually stems from a shit ball out by McCarthy, and then Okoli has an absolute mare.

McCarthy, Okoli, Thomas and Skipp are all absolutely dreadful - throw BDCR into that too.
