I don't know whether Bristol City were set up to suit him or not. At 6'3" you'd hope he'd be able to get on the end of these crosses that our wide men have been putting in. My worry is that he should be at his peak and there are definite question marks over him. If this was a Pearson side I think we'd sign at least two CFs alongside Bristric for that rotation and competition. I'd be hoping to give someone like Matt Rush at Boreham Wood a chance. 26 goals in 46 games last season, has scored today making it 9 goals in 5 games while the game is still going on. Muzzy_no7 Posted 31 August Posted 31 August I can only presume a lot of the moaners haven’t watched us at all or much this season. Countless times Bristric has either recieved the ball and been nudged off it by their CB or he’s not challenged sufficiently enough to cause some chaos. This happened 5 or 6 times against Burton alone. Hes been a willing runner and shows promise but it’s so obvious we need some nous and presence in the box. The amount of cut backs, crosses and promising positions we’ve been in that have completely broken down already is way too high. Add this to the fact we can’t just have one striker if we wish to be successful THIS season then this loan/signing, providing the fee is modest, makes sense. 1

But he was in his early 20s in those Championship seasons and going into L1 at 22. Riis is 28 with a Championship goals per game that is close to (I think probably slightly worse but I haven't bothered working it out) than Fryatt's post-L1. Probably a good idea to have someone with some experience of English football as an option in case Bristric winds up being a dud. But if we do, I think it's reasonable for people to be uncomfortable with us paying a fee for another late 20s player with a shaky Championship record and little chance of any profit. He's a 28 year old striker that's managed double figures twice in his entire life and both of those were amounts in the teens playing 46 game league seasons. He didn't even manage double figures in Denmark. He's also spent almost his entire time in England playing for teams who play football absolutely nothing like we do. Taking a punt on someone that's scored goals at a lower level? I'm all for it. Investing in someone that's been consistently underwhelming for a decade? I mean it's a tougher sell isn't it. 3 1
Claudio Fannieri Posted 31 August Posted 31 August This is a decent striker at championship level, not a world beater but a very very competent striker at that level so as loan in league one and at 28 years old this is a very sensible and sound signing. I saw him play a fair few times for PNE and he always looked lively and involved. Also knows where the back of the net is, too many basing their opinions on one game at King Power stadium when he missed the penalty against us. 1
