Page, Braybrooke and Neale all look incredibly promising and could end up fetching us a large amount of money in the future, so if anything we're investing in both their and our future by bringing someone in to help them. I get the age and resale value argument as we've been ****ed by players like Ayew in the not too distance past. We've also bought players for a lot of money with enormous potential resale value and got absolutely nothing for them (Tielemans) so it's a difficult one either way (made more difficult by Rudkin.) wardyfox86 Posted 1 September Posted 1 September Absolutely the kind of player we need alongside Braybrook and Page in that Midfield 3. Turning out to be a promising deadline day in my opinion. 4

I respectfully disagree. How often have we been stung with this in recent years. The common factor among all the players in this age profile is that they don’t have the eye of the tiger. Their desire to improve has gone, and they just want to coast and have and easy life and pick up a sizeable wage that they wouldn’t get elsewhere. Edited 1 September by Wasyls Pec Deck 2 1

It’s just not true and a very sweeping generalisation. Did Vardy stop trying to improve once he got his big contract and hit the age of 32? We just picked shit players, remains to be seen if we’ve repeated that or not but there’s zero point in writing people off before they even have a chance to play for us. 7
em9999 Posted 1 September Posted 1 September That's just it people are mistaking age for shit players If we signed a 40 year old Messi would anyone turn their nose up ? 1

His best days may be behind him but he would provide some much needed steel to our soggy midfield. Where has soggy midfield come from? Since Skipp was sent off we have been dominant in midfield against Ipswich and MK Dons. It's our attack that's not good enough.

Yes exactly .. age doesn't automatically mean a player is shite .. But I do agree we do tend to sign old shite which is the worse signing any club could possibly make Edited 1 September by em9999 1

Conversely, he could absolutely help the likes of Braybrooke, Page and Neale to become better players, in which case he could be a really smart signing. That's without knowing the intricacies of the deal I.e if there's a fee/amount of fee, wages, bonuses etc. He’s a leader type and captain too I believe. Not a bad thing to have in the midfield there. As always, whether it is a good transfer is down to the terms you mention but also the attitude of the player. Under Pearson this would be excellent as we’d be confident the player is coming here for the right reasons.

Agree with you but we will need back up for them over 46 and Skipp is soggy to be fair

Can you name any others other than our greatest ever player who clearly had a strong bond and affinity for the club?

There are tens of thousands of players who have played at a good level far into their 30s. Ibrahimovic, Giroud, Aubameyang, Walker, Young, Modric, Casemiro. If you want specific to Leicester Fuchs, Morgan, Huth, Schmeicel, ulloa, Okazaki all were over 30 and playing in the premier league on high wages and still playing for the badge. 1

Is listing a group of elite players helpful in discussions about John Lundstram and some of the shite that we’ve signed in recent years that have let us down?! I don’t disagree that it can work out well, but we’ve a proven track record in signing players the wrong end of 30+ who clearly don’t give a shit. 1
