Polyphonic Posted 25 January 2006 Posted 25 January 2006 Leicester City today announced that Craig Levein, Peter Houston and Kenny Black will be leaving the club with immediate effect. Tim Davies said: "It is with huge disappointment that we have to announce the departure of Craig, Peter and Kenny. I would like to thank them for the work they have done for the club since their arrival in November 2004. At that time we set out on a long term strategy for the club to: - Players on longer term contracts, living locally who want to do well for the club - Development of younger players through the Academy system - Reduction of the average age of playing squad - Sustainable off-field business development to support the club - Financial prudence - living within our means "Much of this has been achieved. However our league position is unacceptable and we need to make a change. We have had great support from our fans and all of us have one common goal, to avoid relegation and we see this as the way forward to do this." In the short term Rob Kelly will be taking over as caretaker manager and goal keeping Coach Mike Stowell will be assisting him in the interim. Where is that off ? Link ?

stez Posted 25 January 2006 Posted 25 January 2006 Let's see who he gets us as a replacement.... Then we'll criticise him. What's Howard Wilkinson doing these days? I think he should be banned from coming within 10 miles of Leicester. Just in case. we should apply for an asbo
Simon Posted 25 January 2006 Posted 25 January 2006 On SSN Levein gone, Rob Kelly to take over in interim
Polyphonic Posted 25 January 2006 Posted 25 January 2006 http://www.lcfc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/News/...~773877,00.html Cheers sorry I had to read it to believe it
Babylon Posted 25 January 2006 Posted 25 January 2006 Personally I don't think having to sack your manager is anything to be happy about. Oh well it had to happen.... ROB KELLLYS BLUE AND WHITE ARMY!!!
Leicester Lass Posted 25 January 2006 Posted 25 January 2006 Cheers sorry I had to read it to believe it Will be the same for most people though! But now we know it's true, WWWWWWWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! Let's all have a disco???
cisono Posted 25 January 2006 Posted 25 January 2006 It's not obvious (from the press release on the OS) whether Levein left or he was sacked... although the latter seems more probable?!?!? Although the end result is the same...
cisono Posted 25 January 2006 Posted 25 January 2006 Excellent news, if it's true (I'm praying!). I just got home and checked the OS first and there was nothing there - I was cursing the board just a few minutes ago. I'm glad they've finally come to their senses. Well, it is THERE (on the OS) now...
Craig Posted 25 January 2006 Posted 25 January 2006 Davies says that our position is unacceptable, i think that's kinda getting at him being sacked...
Collymore Posted 25 January 2006 Posted 25 January 2006 The guy on SSN was frowning at TD's statement cause it didn't make sense! Think he's hit the bottle again!
Ricey Posted 25 January 2006 Posted 25 January 2006 My dad walked in earlier just after I found out and jokingly said "Has he gone?" I replied "Yep, press conference at 7:30". He wasn't expecting that reply Like TD said in the statement, Levein has done a lot good for the club but his management of football matters was poor and the results were unacceptable. I hope Kelly doesn't get the job permantley for the reason that the players won't feel a 'change' they'll just carry on the way they did feeling little difference from when Levein was manager.
cisono Posted 25 January 2006 Posted 25 January 2006 Rob Kelly for manager Well, it's just a temporary measure, I believe...
Mark Posted 25 January 2006 Posted 25 January 2006 I'm happy with what he's done with the club in terms of players - and helping bringing the youngsters through. As long as we stay up now, it could be the start of something good. Hopefully we can say he started it in a few years time.

Wycombe Fox Posted 25 January 2006 Posted 25 January 2006 Well there's an immediate lift in my spirits! I can see a light at the end of that very long tunnel, only a glimmer mind, but earlier it was only darkness. C'mon you Blue Boys.
