Master Fox Posted 8 November 2006 Posted 8 November 2006 Thracian, If the academy players are good enough they'll make the first team squad regardless of whom we bring in.
Thracian Posted 8 November 2006 Posted 8 November 2006 I want us to lay the foundations and build a successful young team, but that's what we've apparently been trying to do here since Adams left and although I much prefer seeing these players we have now. We aren't actually any nearer becoming a better team. I would hope that with a chairman that can allow us to compete with the best in this league and the same intention to build on what we've got that we could become successful again. I would hate to see us drop the approach we've currently got to go in search of a quick fix. But with more money, we could get some better younger players and a few better older heads to compliment some of our current good young players we have. If it happens as you outline, I'll be happy to back the bloke - but if the mercenaries come and we start winning, I think the development of our Academy internationals will soon be obscured by the dazzle from reflected glory emitted by the first team. We'll see.
Chrysalis Posted 8 November 2006 Posted 8 November 2006 No, it will come out of Mandy's eventual profit. Why should the present shareholders help line the pockets of a millionaire? they have the chance themselves if they want to invest their own 20million. life sucks he has the means to invest more they dont. Suddenly they want a share of the spoils from potential future success.
Joe. Posted 8 November 2006 Posted 8 November 2006 (In reply to Thracian) It doesn't really matter as long as we're winning surely? If the young players are good enough they'll get in the team. To be honest I can't see the youtn team being hindered because of Milan.

OriginalRobboFOX Posted 8 November 2006 Posted 8 November 2006 We can all agree that everything about the Mandaric takeover is all hearsay and conjecture. I dont know about you lot but I just want to know something more concrete. It seems to be dragging on relentlessly altho I never expected it to be sorted out in days either. I just hope and pray it doesnt all fall through

I dont know about you lot but I just want to know something more concrete. I just hope and pray it doesnt all fall through Agreed. I want to know something more concrete, but as the official statement on the OS says, the details must remain confidential at this time, and I personally understand that. It better not fall through though, or there will be many many unhappy people targeting anger and frustration at the board.
OriginalRobboFOX Posted 8 November 2006 Posted 8 November 2006 If it does all fall through I think the foxes trust will take a ribbing from a few people whether or not its their fault. Their whole attitude stinks
The Don Posted 8 November 2006 Posted 8 November 2006 With Leicester City embroiled in such a major takeover operation, they are learning more than just the colour of Milan Mandaric's money. They are finding out who their friends are because people don't half give themselves away at times like this - and I am sure the club find it all very revealing. City have been waiting all their days for the chance of something like Mandaric's approach. And, while the overwhelming reaction is that it is A Good Thing, rumblings of discord are appearing. City have been waiting all their days for the chance of something like Mandaric's approach. And, while the overwhelming reaction is that it is A Good Thing, rumblings of discord are appearing. Of course, there will never be anything like total unanimity on such a matter. But, to me, the least reason of all should be the share-price offer to the shareholders not being enough. Hold on. What about this "best interests of the club" notion? When those fine 47 prevented City going out of existence when administration had to be dealt with, the line was not that it was an investment, it was saving the club. Back then, money was not the issue. Those who had bought shares during the earlier flotation did so out of loyalty and got in monetary return exactly what they expected - nothing. So what if the initial bid this time was around half what they put in - as has been suggested by some who, did you notice, admit they do not know the breakdown. It was half more than they thought they would ever get anyway. Not everyone feels the same. I know of two major shareholders who are not going to exercise their right to any money and will leave it in the club. That was the spirit in which the money was put up in the first place. To try to cast aspersions on the deal because the sugar-daddy's bid is not sweet enough rather misses the point. Even if Mandaric's bid was a tenth of the £25million, that is still more than City have at this time. They have no money at all, no other bid is even in the pipeline and, unless this deal happens, they will go into the transfer window in the same situation and wide open to predators looking at their best players, attracting offers they could not turn down. That is the brutally harsh situation that City find themselves in. So when the board return with the offer to the shareholders in the next day or so, they will soon know who genuinely has the club's, rather than their own, interests at heart. And that will certainly be worth knowing no matter what happens. Great report in the mockery

We'll see. It's a very simple formula Thracian, if the players we have in our youth team are good enough they will get a game, if they are not they will go to a team not as good as us. If they aren't good enough and we can't bring any one else then we are stuck with them, and this division for a long time. If we can bring other people in we can go places. As I have said to you before this how all good teams operate these days. All footballers are mercenaries, they all get paid, most like fast cars and birds. If they can go somewhere where there is more money, more fast cars and more birds they will. Our crop are no different. Being a England school boy means jack shit, there are plenty of young talents who promise so much and turn out to be another Juniour Lewis.
Fox in a Box Posted 8 November 2006 Posted 8 November 2006 Another statement on the OS: Last sentence for the Trust? well said louise, I think the trust dont like it as they wont be able to say anything anymore (at board level)! .....they have got to be professional about this and not focus on themselves as individuals.

Similarly, why should our owner be a Leicester fan, or even English/British? I regularly see this levelled at Mandaric yet our best players are either Australian or Canadian or Guinean... okay, I think I got away with that, let's continue... I'd rather have a foreigner in charge who knows what he's doing than a Leicester fan who doesn't, just like I'd rather have a few foreign players on the pitch who can do a job than kids from Leicester who can't (hypothetical! Not slagging off the kids!). The players will change, the owners will change, the fans stay the same - and it's about time we had a team we enjoy watching again.
DanTheFoxBhoy Posted 8 November 2006 Posted 8 November 2006 Itchy arse. I actually got an itchy arse just as I was reading over that... heresay and conjecture, or FACT?
disheartened fan Posted 8 November 2006 Posted 8 November 2006 RL says milan has increased his offer to the shareholders
Louise Posted 8 November 2006 Posted 8 November 2006 MM has increased his offer to 6m (to cover the investment made by the shareholders was how it was phrased). Breaking news on RL. MM expects to be the owner by the new year.

Another thing that annoys me about the fantastic youth team James Wesolowski - Australia Max "Da GanGsTaR" Gradel - Ivory Coast Alan Sheehan - Ireland Andy King - Welsh EDIT- Conrads Irish as well Hardly home grown is it.

Milky Posted 8 November 2006 Posted 8 November 2006 andy king is english, so is his dad. Must be a grandparent connection. i think he gave up on his england chances

Heresay and conjecture or not, the signs are pointing to a positive outcome
Fez of Mahrez Posted 8 November 2006 Posted 8 November 2006 Well that came out of left field (like a well executed Danny Tiatto scissors kick to an opponent's neck). I wasn't expecting to hear anything for a couple of days after that LCFC statement, let alone a few minutes. Seems a bit iffy to me.
Louise Posted 8 November 2006 Posted 8 November 2006 I will say that RL didn't actually play the interview from MM though (just 'MM has told us'), so don't banana dance until you hear it from him.. remember their recent shenanigans. ETA: Ok, a bit. Who can resist.

Right you are guvnor, keep me posted Real banana dancing/mini raving is on ice until GodMandaric comes out with an official statement letting us know how much has been offered and that he is awaiting confirmation of his acceptance But for now, here's a little dance to show enthusiasm

Babylon Posted 8 November 2006 Posted 8 November 2006 Excellent news.... all I need to hear is the board are going to put it to a shareholder vote and i'll be chuffed.
