Daggers Posted 8 November 2006 Posted 8 November 2006 LCFC Official StatementLeicester City can confirm that discussions are ongoing with Mr Milan Mandaric in relation to the offer he has made for the football club. As the board has previously stated, any decision regarding the football club must be reached in a measured and considered manner. Integral to the decision-making process is that the short, medium and long term best interests of the football club are safeguarded at all times. Mr Mandaric's bid is one of a number of options which the club is currently considering. The board appreciates supporters' desire for detailed information but the content of all discussions must remain confidential at this time. Sounds like most of the discussion in this thread then
The People's Hero Posted 8 November 2006 Posted 8 November 2006 Pirate Mandaric says.. Sell me the club now! Arrrghhh!
escape2victory Posted 8 November 2006 Posted 8 November 2006 boring Sounds like some way 2 go yet. If only jamesino's dad was negotiating, be done in seconds...... Yep thats right 4 balti pies and its yours pal
Daggers Posted 8 November 2006 Posted 8 November 2006 Has anyone noticed: neither Ultra nor FoxesTrust are around at the moment?
Fez of Mahrez Posted 8 November 2006 Posted 8 November 2006 Pirate Mandaric says.. Sell me the club now! Arrrghhh! I think as far as official statements go, this is pretty self-explanatory. He seems desperate to seal the deal as quickly as possible. There are a number of different routes the club could go down in response to this but the use of the word "pirate" instead of his actual real first name, which I believe is "Milan", indicates that he is not about to take any prisoners. The anguish shown at the end of the statement is also quite rare in these situations. The use of three H's in the word "Arrrghhh" and subsequent exclamation mark reflects the man's passion for football and Leicester City Football Club in particular. I feel this statement from the Mandaric camp is a step forward in the negotiations and I hope our board can meet him halfway with a view to completing the proposed takeover within an agreeable timescale.

Stop acting like a child. Again. You'll get told off.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 8 November 2006 Posted 8 November 2006 Stop acting like a child. Again. You'll get told off. Okay but this time can it be from someone who with a basic understanding of human rights campaigning?
The People's Hero Posted 8 November 2006 Posted 8 November 2006 I thought our lord Jme had dictated that human rights organisations were all meddlesome, evil nuisances (or should I say nuisancii?)
Fez of Mahrez Posted 8 November 2006 Posted 8 November 2006 I thought our lord Jme had dictated that human rights organisations were all meddlesome, evil nuisances (or should I say nuisancii?) Oh yes that's right, my mistake. I think I must be in a bad mood. Hurry up Milan.
Swedging Posted 8 November 2006 Posted 8 November 2006 Has anyone noticed: neither Ultra nor FoxesTrust are around at the moment? Perhaps they have silly old-fashioned jobs that don't allow dossing around on the Internet all day.
Ric Flair Posted 8 November 2006 Posted 8 November 2006 In today's Merc, Mandaric says he is very, very positive that a deal can be agreed quite soon! Looking good, please be true!

Louise Posted 8 November 2006 Posted 8 November 2006 Here's that article: Mandaric moves closer to a deal Milan Mandaric believes there has been a positive step forward following yesterday's takeover talks with Leicester City. Mandaric and his representatives went face to face with City chairman Andrew Taylor and director Tony Lander to negotiate his £25million bid for the club, which he tabled last week. After the meeting at a central London hotel, the Serbian millionaire felt there was a lot of common ground. He said: "It was very positive, very constructive and there is a lot of positivity on both sides towards getting a deal agreed. "My feeling is that there is a genuine desire from the club to reach agreement." City, though, would only issue a formal statement on the talks, which said: "Leicester City confirm that discussions are on-going with Milan Mandaric in relation to the offer he has made for the football club. "As the board has previously stated, any decision regarding the football club must be reached in a measured and considered manner. "Integral to the decision-making process is that the short, medium and long-term best interests of the football club are safeguarded at all times. "Mr Mandaric's bid is one of a number of options which the club is currently considering. The board appreciates supporters' desire for detailed information but the contents of all discussions must remain confidential at this time." However, Mandaric feels the talks went very well and sees no reason to change his optimistic view that the right deal for both parties can be struck. He added: "I can say they are very positive, I have been impressed with them and I think it is a positive step forward in the right direction." City now have to discuss the offer further before putting their recommendation before the rest of the shareholders. Mandaric expects to hear more "in a couple of days" and, until then, the ball is in the club's court. From the views he expressed yesterday, it appears progress has been made and Mandaric's own positive demeanour suggests a deal can be done. http://www.thebluearmy.co.uk/details.asp?b...6269754|p|536|0
Fez of Mahrez Posted 8 November 2006 Posted 8 November 2006 I doubt we can read too much into that but at least he seems conducive to negotiations.
Dr The Singh Posted 8 November 2006 Posted 8 November 2006 Here's that article: ANy positive response is good one, i'm sure someone will counter this report with some negatives!!!
Fez of Mahrez Posted 8 November 2006 Posted 8 November 2006 OT: Fez has Franklin! Fez love!!! It ain't easy being whiiiiiiiiite! It ain't easy being broooooooooooown! Err... Milan Mandaric. Gotta throw that in else Jamesino will tell me off.
Manwell Pablo Posted 8 November 2006 Posted 8 November 2006 Mandarin? Sounds like an oriental language to me. Perhaps the Triads are going to take over the club and turn the Walkers in to a casino cum brothel, like I suggested. Fu ck off that was my idea.
Thracian Posted 8 November 2006 Posted 8 November 2006 In today's Merc, Mandaric says he is very, very positive that a deal can be agreed quite soon! Looking good, please be true! I sincerely hope that all your optimism - and that of so many other fans - is justified and that what will amount to a reassignment of debt and modest investment in players will produce what so many see as the promised land of a team, albeit any team, representing us in the Premiership instead of saddling us with another crisis later on down the line. A team of travelling mercenaries is not what I've ever wanted - I've always favoured building our own team and supplementing any weaknesses through the transfer market - so the whole scenario, far from being exciting, is rather distasteful to me. I shall be perfectly happy watching the Academy side and just nipping down to the Walkers occasionally to remain familiar with the faces. For what it's worth I think Leicester have the best chance they'll ever have to build a really decent team from their own bricks and despite statements to the contrary I'm quite sure that will now be wasted because if there's not been enough will to bring those players through so far, there won't be any more room in future. If I'm wrong I'll watch but the prospect of following some travelling foreign circus doesn't appeal one bit.

I want us to lay the foundations and build a successful young team, but that's what we've apparently been trying to do here since Adams left and although I much prefer seeing these players we have now. We aren't actually any nearer becoming a better team. I would hope that with a chairman that can allow us to compete with the best in this league and the same intention to build on what we've got that we could become successful again. I would hate to see us drop the approach we've currently got to go in search of a quick fix. But with more money, we could get some better younger players and a few better older heads to compliment some of our current good young players we have.

I shouldn't worry too much - the level of investment apparently proposed doesn't look anything like enough to bring in a team of mercenaries.

Plus, if you look at Portsmouth's team over the years. They've often kept a core of players throughout. Such as Matt Taylor, Richard Hughes, Linvoy Primus, Gary O'Neil, Lomana Lua Lua. I know they've bought and sold a lot of players, but they've also had several players that have been at their club a lot longer than any Leicester player has over the past 4 or 5 years here. Talk about mercenaries. Since we got in to shit after Taylor, the longest we've kept a player in about 3 years, if that!!!
