One thing that irked me though - I watched it at the Vue first and then the Odeon (first time I'd been there in a few years). Both times the projection wasn't full screen, so it had several black lines of different shades around it. Took away from the film experience a bit. Did this happen to anyone who saw it at the Phoenix or Showcase?

'The Housemaid'

Never a big fan of these types of 'thrillers' with the inevitable twist.

Amanda Seyfried was great though.

I honestly would just like that 2 hours and 11 minutes back.

Age of Consent (1969).

Well... Helen Mirren's first film. Swimming barenaked in the Great Barrier Reef, and posing nude for James Mason..

Michael Powell's last feature – he'd later direct The Boy who Turned Yellow, an educational one-hour piece.

Another somewhat forgotten English gem: And Soon the Darkness (the 70ies original).

SoonTheDarkness.jpg?resize=900%252C509%2

Two English girls on a cycling trip in the French countryside. Then one girl goes missing.

Script by Brian Clemens (The Avengers) and Terry Nation (Dr Who, among others).

Never watched it all the way through, does it end well for the protagonist?

Avatar Fire & Ash.

Loved it, was wondering to see if it was all hype  and no substance, It wasnt.

And for a film that lasted 3h and 10mins it didnt seem to drag and certainly didnt feel that long.

Incendies (2010).

Fvck, that twist near the end.

Glad I finally managed to watch this Villeneuve classic.

Brilliantly acted and edited.

Having Radiohead as a reoccurring soundtrack helps. Fits very well.

I enjoyed 'Passengers', but I can see why it's ridiculed.

Haven't seen the other one.

Passengers is... well, passable.

For relatively recent space movies, both Interstellar and The Martian are worth a look.

Watched interstellar, enjoyed what i could understand.

Will give Martian a go heard good things

Probably my 2 favourite movies, Interstellar gets at least 1 rewatch a month

I remember seeing it in the cinema.

Only rivalled by The Fellowship of the Ring in terms of cinematic experience for me.

Passengers I remember had some weird ethical thing that annoyed people. I think I remember what it was but it might be a spolier so I'll leave it.

It was only ok as a movie IMO.

AMAZING spec script, terribly executed with the wrong director and cast.

The script was going around screenwriting circles for a couple of years, getting a huge amount of buzz for its originality and there was genuine excitement when it got placed on The Black List. The writer got headhunted by Ridley Scott to do Prometheus and he ended up on other major projects too. Then they went with two of the most oversaturated actors at the time, who had practically zero chemistry between them, and they deviated way too much from the script's hard sci-fi thriller themes and turned it into a really weird romance space drama that didn't really work. Great idea for a film but the eventual product was merely passable. It did push Spaihts towards Dune though, so it was worth it.
